Aluona Hydrographical Sanctuary
The Aluona Hydrographical Sanctuary ( lt, Aluonos hidrografinis draustinis) is a protected area of a state importance in Josvainiai Eldership of KÄ—dainiai District Municipality and Babtai Eldership of Kaunas District Municipality, in central Lithuania. It was established in 1992 and covers an area of . It covers the middle and the lower course of the Aluona. Josvainiai Eldership ( lt, Josvainių seniÅ«nija) is a Lithuanian eldership, located in the southern part of KÄ—dainiai District Municipality. Eldership was created from the Josvainiai ''selsovet'' in 1993. Geography The territory of Josvainiai Eldership is located mostly in the Nevėžis Plain, but the western edges are in the East Samogitian Plateau. KÄ—dainiai District Municipality
KÄ—dainiai () is one of the oldest cities in Lithuania. It is located north of Kaunas on the banks of the Nevėžis River. First mentioned in the 1372 Livonian Chronicle of Hermann de Wartberge, its population is 23,667. Its old town dates to the 17th century. The city is the administrative centre of the KÄ—dainiai District Municipality. Kaunas District Municipality (''Kauno rajono savivaldybė'') is one of 60 municipalities in Lithuania. Josvainiai (formerly pl, Jaswojnie, russian: link=no, ЯÑвойни, ЯÑвойне) is a small town in KÄ—dainiai district, central Lithuania. It is located on the Å uÅ¡vÄ— River 10 km southwest from KÄ—dainiai.
