Altstetten (Zürich)
Altstetten is a quarter in district 9 of the city of Zürich in Switzerland. It was formerly a municipality in its own right, but was incorporated into Zürich in 1934. History Altstetten is first mentioned in 1249, at which time a distinction was made between ''in Altstettin superiori'' and ''in villa Altstetin Inferiori''. Excavations have found remains probably from the late Bronze Age (1000-800 BC), together with those of a Roman villa. In 1847, the Swiss Northern Railway opened Switzerland's first domestic railway line between Zürich and Baden. The line passed through Altstetten, and a station was provided. Over time, the line became the principal rail route between Zürich and northern and western Switzerland. In 1864, a second line, to Zug via Affoltern am Albis, made a junction with the first just west of Altstetten railway station. Käferberg
Käferberg (el. ) and Waidberg (el. ) are the summits of a wooded mountain respectively chain of hills overlooking the inner city of Zürich, Zürichsee, Albis chain and Uetliberg, as well as the Limmat Valley and the Zürcher Unterland in Switzerland. Geography Käferberg (Swiss German: ''Chäferberg'' meaning ''mountain of beetles'') and Waidberg (mountain of meadows) are the peaks of a longish mountain in the north of the Limmat Valley. It is located in the Zürich districts of Höngg, Wipkingen and Affoltern, between ''Bucheggplatz'' and ETH-Hönggerberg, known as ''Science City'', and the western ''Hönggerberg'' heading on the northern border of the Limmat valley to Würenlos. Schlieren (Zürich German ''Schlierä'') is a Municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the district of Dietikon (district), Dietikon in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Zürich (canton), Zürich in Switzerland. Zürich S-Bahn
The Zürich S-Bahn (german: S-Bahn Zürich) system is a network of rail lines that has been incrementally expanded to cover the ZVV area, which comprises the entire canton of Zürich and portions of neighbouring cantons (Aargau, Glarus, Schaffhausen, Schwyz, St. Gallen, Thurgau and Zug), with a few lines extending into or crossing the territory of southern Germany. The network is one of many commuter rail operations in German speaking countries to be described as an S-Bahn. Zürich Altstetten Railway Station
Zürich Altstetten railway station (german: Bahnhof Zürich Altstetten) is a railway station in the Altstetten quarter of the Swiss city of Zürich. The station is located on the Zürich to Olten main line and is the junction for the Zürich to Zug via Affoltern am Albis line. The station is served by lines , , , , , and of the Zürich S-Bahn. It is also a calling point for the hourly InterRegio services that link Basel to Zurich Airport via Zürich Hauptbahnhof, and Bern to Zürich via Olten. Ernst Sieber
Ernst Sieber (; 24 February 1927 – 19 May 2018) was a Swiss pastor and social activist who was one of the most popular and best known personalities associated with the Swiss Reformed Church. He was ordained in the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Zürich. In 1963 he initiated the basis for the relief organisation Sozialwerke Pfarrer Sieber, founded in 1988 for "disadvantaged people, to help to alleviate the hardships around addiction, disease, violence and homelessness". Sieber wrote books about his work as social worker to finance the foundation. From 1991 to 1995 he represented the citizens of the Canton of Zürich as member of the Evangelische Volkspartei (EVP) political party in the ''Nationalrat'', the lower Swiss parliament's house.
