Alto Juruá Extractive Reserve
The Alto Juruá Extractive Reserve ( pt, Reserva Extrativista do Alto Juruá) is an extractive reserve in the state of Acre, Brazil. The reserve is in the Amazon rainforest. As of 2011 it had about 5,000 residents. The objective is to support traditional occupations including extraction of rubber and other forest resources, farming, hunting and fishing, while preserving the environment. Location The Alto Juruá Extractive Reserve has an area of . It is mostly contained in the municipality of Marechal Thaumaturgo in the state of Acre. Small parts are in the surrounding municipalities of Jordão, Porto Walter and Tarauacá, also in Acre. The reserve is bounded by the international border with Peru to the south. Campina (biome)
Campina is a Neotropical ecoregion found in the Amazon biome. It refers to vegetation that grows on infertile sandy soil with poor drainage. The term may be used to include open forest, shrubland and meadow, or may be restricted to treeless meadows. Open forest The term ''campina'' is related to '' campinarana''. The meaning of both is "wild field", and some consider that they are the same. The terms ''campina'' and ''campinarana'' both describe white sand savannas that are very poor in nutrients. The Alto Tarauacá Extractive Reserve ( pt, Reserva Extrativista do Alto Tarauacá) is an extractive reserve in the state of Acre, Brazil.
