Altiplano
The Altiplano (Spanish for "high plain"), Collao (Quechua and Aymara: Qullaw, meaning "place of the Qulla") or Andean Plateau, in west-central South America, is the most extensive high plateau on Earth outside Tibet. The plateau is located at the latitude of the widest part of the north-south-trending Andes. The bulk of the Altiplano lies in Bolivia, but its northern parts lie in Peru, and its southwestern fringes lie in Chile. There are on the plateau several cities in each of these three nations, including El Alto, La Paz, Oruro, and Puno. The northeastern part of the Altiplano is more humid than the southwestern part, which has several salares (salt flats), due to its aridity. At the Bolivia–Peru border lies Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in South America. Farther south, in Bolivia, there was until recently a lake, Lake Poopó, but by December 2015 it had completely dried up, and was declared defunct. The Altiplano Cundiboyacense () is a high plateau located in the Eastern Cordillera of the Colombian Andes covering parts of the departments of Cundinamarca and Boyacá. The altiplano corresponds to the ancient territory of the Muisca. The Altiplano Cundiboyacense comprises three distinctive flat regions; the Bogotá savanna, the valleys of Ubaté and Chiquinquirá, and the valleys of Duitama and Sogamoso. Altiplano Nariñense
The Altiplano Nariñense or ''Nariño plateau'' is an area of flat lands located on the eastern mountain range of the Colombian Andes cordillera, in the departments of Nariño and Putumayo, in southern Colombia. The region comprises three fairly distinguishable flat areas such as the Túquerres and Ipiales plateau, the Atriz valley and the Sibundoy valley. It is a region of great demographic density where there are numerous urban centers, among which the cities of San Juan de Pasto, Ipiales and Túquerres stand out. The average altitude is 2,700 meters above sea level. It has a mountain climate, which varies with altitude, with temperatures ranging between 10 and 23 degrees Celsius. The Central Mexican Plateau, also known as the Mexican Altiplano ( es, Altiplanicie Mexicana), is a large arid-to-semiarid plateau that occupies much of northern and central Mexico. Guatemalan Highlands
The Guatemalan Highlands is an upland region in southern Guatemala, lying between the Sierra Madre de Chiapas to the south and the Petén lowlands to the north. Description The highlands are made up of a series of high valleys enclosed by mountains. The local name for the region is ''Altos'', meaning "highlands", which includes the northern declivity of the Sierra Madre. The mean elevation is greatest in the west (Altos of Quezaltenango) and least in the east (Altos of Guatemala). A few of the streams of the Pacific slope actually rise in the highlands, and force a way through the Sierra Madre at the bottom of deep ravines. The Altiplano de Granada (Granada High Plains) is a spectrum of landscapes located in the northern part of the Granada province in southern Spain. Administratively it is made up of two municipal territories: Baza and Huéscar. Topography The altiplano consists of a high plain (700 –1000 metres) surrounded by several high mountain ranges; Sierra Castril and Sierra del Pozo to the north, Sierra de Orce and Sierra Maria to the West, and Sierra de Baza in the south. The area includes the Hoya de Baza and the valleys of the Galera, Huescar and Guardal rivers. There is not consensus and agreement in the demarcation of the ''comarcas'' of the region and some of them varies largely depending on the comarcas proposal. According to La Verdad newspapers’ Region of Murcia Atlas, there are three main divisions corresponding to three different authors. Most agreed ''comarcas'' The following ''comarcas'' are the most agreed in regards to its size and demarcation. They are accepted to be in the same way by most authors or their changes depending on the minor versions. Altiplano It is located in the north and is 1,580 km2 in the area.
