Pope Clement X ( la, Clemens X; it, Clemente X; 13 July 1590 – 22 July 1676), born Emilio Bonaventura Altieri, was head of the Catholic Church and ruler of the Papal States from 29 April 1670 to his death in July 1676. Elected pope at age 79, he has since been ranked as the oldest pope at the time of his election. Giambattista Altieri or Giovanni Battista Altieri (20 June 1589 – 26 November 1654) was an Italian Catholic Cardinal. Early life Giambattista Altieri was born 20 June 1589 in Rome, the son of Lorenzo Altieri and Victoria Delphini, a Venetian lady. The Altieri family belonged to the ancient Roman nobility and had enjoyed the highest consideration at Rome for several centuries; they had occasionally contracted alliances with the Colonnas and the Orsinis. Miguel Altieri is a Chilean born agronomist and entomologist. He is a Professor of Agroecology at the University of California, Berkeley in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management. Career Miguel Altieri studied agronomy at the University of Chile, where he received a bachelor's degree. He graduated with a Ph.D. in entomology at the University of Florida. Vincenzo Maria Altieri (1724–1800) was an Italian people, Italian Catholic Church, Roman Catholic Cardinal (Catholicism), cardinal from 1777 to 1800. Willie "Two-Knife" Altieri (dates unknown) also called Willie "two gun" Altieri... was an American gangster who served as the chief enforcer for Frankie Yale's Italian-American " Black-Hand" gang, one of the most powerful criminal organizations in 1920s New York City. Dario Carlo Altieri, M.D., is a researcher who works as director of The Wistar Institute Cancer Center in Philadelphia. In 2015, he became the CEO of The Wistar Institute. His research has focused on Inhibitors of Apoptosis (IAP), a family of genes essential for proliferation and survival of cells. His work has identified survivin, one of these IAP genes, is over-produced in almost every human cancer, and his team is currently studying the biology of survivin and how it could be used to develop treatments for cancer. Lodovico Altieri (17 July 1805 – 11 August 1867) was an Italian Roman Catholic cardinal. He served in various capacities under various popes and belonged to a noble Roman house making him a descendant of Pope Clement X. Palazzo Altieri is a palace in Rome, which was the home of the Altieri family in the city. The palace faces the square in front of the Church of the Gesù.
