Altes Rathaus, Vienna
The Alte Rathaus (''Old Council House'') is a building in central Vienna, located at Wipplingerstraße 8, 1st District. Architecture After several rebuildings, its exterior is now in the style of Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, although the official rooms are in the Baroque style and some Gothic elements are still recognisable. The entrance gate dates to 1700. The courtyard contains the 1741 Andromeda Fountain designed by Georg Raphael Donner, whilst behind the courtyard is the 14th century Gothic Sankt Salvator church. The council chamber was redesigned between 1851 and 1853 by the Viennese architect Ferdinand Fellner the Elder. History Frederick the Fair donated the original building on the site to the city council in 1316 and has been owned by the city ever since. It was the site of the execution of Franz III. The Town Hall (german: Rathaus) of Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, is spread over a total of 16 locations. The three most important buildings are the Old Town Hall (german: Altes Rathaus, link=no) and the New Town Hall (german: Neues Rathaus, link=no) in the city center as well as the Technical Town Hall (german: Technisches Rathaus, link=no) in the Stühlinger district. The oldest town hall in Freiburg is part of the building complex of the Old Town Hall. It is located in the inner courtyard and is now called ''Gerichtslaube'' ("court house") and is directly connected to the Old Town Hall. A passage from the New Town Hall to the Old Town Hall spans the Turmstraße between the two buildings. Rathaus (Oldenburg)
The old Rathaus (in German: Altes Rathaus) is the former town hall in the centre of the city of Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany. In 1635, a Renaissance-style town hall was built on this site by Count Anthony Günther. It was removed in 1886 and the present building was completed in 1888 with elements of the neo-Renaissance and neo-Gothic styles. There is a German restaurant in the basement, the Ratskeller Oldenburg. To the south is St Lamberti-Kirche and to the west is Oldenburgisches Staatstheater. Old Town Hall, Halle (Saale)
The Old Town Hall ( ger, Altes Rathaus Halle) was a town hall in Halle (Saale), Germany. History As early as 1312 a half-timbered Town Hall (German: Altes Rathaus) had been built on the market square in Halle (Saale) on the Saale River, east-central Germany. In 1466 a stone building was constructed. Later on the Town Hall was subject to several transformations. The architect Nickel Hoffmann added Renaissance features to the Gothic architecture style building. The south wing of the Town Hall, dating from the 16th century, was substituted by the Baroque wing in 1702, decorated by a grand entrance portal. On 31 March 1945 an air raid damaged parts of Halle (Saale)’s Old Town Hall and of the Old Weighing House (German: Alte Waage ''or'' Ratswaage). Leipzig's Old Town Hall – which dominates the east side of the marketplace in Leipzig's district Mitte - is considered one of Germany's most important secular Renaissance buildings. At the rear is the Naschmarkt (Sweet market). The mayor and the municipal administration have been housed in the new town hall since 1905. Description The Old Town Hall is a landmark of Leipzig and is generally considered to be an extremely beautiful building. The impression of beauty comes from length, colour, uniformity and proportions. With two storeys and a length of more than 300 feet, the building would be long but not high, if there would not be the steep roof. The eaves edge is low, so the roof contributes significantly to the height. The Old Town Hall in Szczecin ( pl, Ratusz Staromiejski w Szczecinie, german: Altes Rathaus Stettin) is the present day town hall in the old town district. History At the time of its construction in the 15th century, it was known as the New Town Hall, erected at the site of the one built in the previous century.
