Snowbasin
Snowbasin Resort is a ski resort in the western United States, located in Weber County, Utah, northeast of Salt Lake City, on the back (east) side of the Wasatch Range. Opened in 1939, as part of an effort by the city of Ogden to restore the Wheeler Creek watershed, it is one of the oldest continually operating ski resorts in the United States. One of the owners in the early days was Aaron Ross. Over the next fifty years Snowbasin grew, and after a large investment in lifts and snowmaking by owner Earl Holding, Snowbasin hosted the 2002 Winter Olympic alpine skiing races for downhill, combined, and super-G. The movie ''Frozen'' was filmed there in 2009. Snowbasin is located on Mount Ogden at the west end of State Route 226, which is connected to I-84 and SR-39 via SR-167 (New Trappers Loop Road). Kirsten Lee Clark (born April 23, 1977) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States. Born in Portland, Maine, she made her World Cup debut in November 1995 and retired from international competition following the 2007 season. Janette Hargin
Janette Hargin (born 4 October 1977) is a Swedish former alpine skier who competed in the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics. During her alpine skiing career she won six Swedish national titles and scored six top ten finishes in alpine skiing World Cup races, including a career best of second in a combined in Åre in 2002. At the 2002 Winter Olympics she finished 25th in the downhill, 27th in the super-G and 31st in the giant slalom, whilst in 2006 she finished 12th in the combined, 17th in the downhill and 22nd in the super-G. Her best result in an Alpine Skiing World Championships was a 12th in the super-G in 2003. After nine years on the alpine World Cup circuit, in 2007 Hargin retired from alpine skiing and switched to freeskiing. She has enjoyed success as a freeskier, becoming Freeride World Tour champion in 2011 and winning three Scandinavian and two Swedish titles in big mountain skiing. Varvara Vladimirovna Zelenskaya ( rus, Варвара Владимировна Зеленская, often transliterated as Warwara Zelenskaja; born 5 October 1972 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky) is a retired Russian alpine ski racer. She is the most successful Russian female World Cup ski racer, winning a total of four races ( Svetlana Gladishiva is the only other Russian woman to win a World Cup race). Career Zelenskaya began skiing at the age of six in her native Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, on the Kamchatka Peninsula in far eastern Russia. Mélanie Turgeon (born October 21, 1976, in Alma, Quebec) is a skier and former member of the Canadian national ski team. A member of the Mont Ste. Anne ski club, Turgeon joined the Canadian national ski team in 1992 at the age of only sixteen. Two years later she collected five medals at the World Junior Championships, including two gold medals in the giant slalom and combined events.
