is a fictional character and the protagonist of the '' Dead or Alive'' fighting game series by Team Ninja and Tecmo (Koei Tecmo). Kasumi has served as the lead character of the ''Dead or Alive'' franchise since its premiere in 1996. She was a main character in the first, second and fifth games of the series and in the film '' DOA: Dead or Alive''. In the games' canon, Kasumi, also known as "The Kunoichi of Destiny", is a teenage ninja princess of the Mugen Tenshin Ninja Clan. Kasumi abandoned her clan, becoming an outcast and is pursued by her younger half-sister Ayane. There are several ''Dead or Alive'' player and boss characters who are clones of her. (''DOA'') is a media franchise based on a fighting game, fighting video game series produced by Tecmo and developed by Team Ninja. It is primarily composed of fast-paced 3D fighting games that begun with the original ''Dead or Alive (video game), Dead or Alive'' in 1996. The series received critical and universal acclaim with the sequels ''Dead or Alive 2'' in 1999 and ''Dead or Alive 3'' in 2001, which are considered landmark titles. ''Dead or Alive'' is the creation of Tomonobu Itagaki, who has since left the company and is no longer working on the series, which continues without him. Sakura Tange
is a Japanese voice actress, singer and writer who was born in Ichinomiya, Aichi. She is best known for providing the voice of Sakura Kinomoto in the anime series ''Cardcaptor Sakura'' and before that, she voiced some of SNK's characters, such as Yuri Sakazaki in drama CD adaptation of ''The King of Fighters '94'', Cham Cham in drama CD adaptation of ''Samurai Shodown II'' and Sakura Mitsukoshi in the Neo Geo puzzle game ''Money Puzzle Exchanger''. is a video game character in the '' Dead or Alive'' and ''Ninja Gaiden'' franchises by Team Ninja and Tecmo (Koei Tecmo). She debuted as a hidden character in the PlayStation version of the fighting game '' Dead or Alive'' in 1998, and has appeared in all of its sequels and spin-offs so far, including as the main protagonist of ''Dead or Alive 3''. is a 2019 fighting game developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo. It is the sixth main entry in the '' Dead or Alive'' fighting series. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 1, 2019, and was also released in the Arcades in Japan on July 18, 2019. Running on a new engine, the game included new features and introduced new mechanics. ''Dead or Alive 6'' was praised for its polished gameplay, battle arenas, and its beginner-friendly tutorials, but was criticized for its multiplayer functions as well as the absence of online lobbies at launch.
