Aloysius Paul D'Souza ( knn, अलोय्सिउस पौल डी सोझा (Devanagari), ಎಲೋಷಿಯಸ್ ಪಾವ್ಲ್ ಡಿ'ಸೋಜಾ (Kannada); born 21 June 1941) is the former Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mangalore. He was consecrated on 8 November 1996, succeeding his predecessor Basil Salvadore D'Souza. Early years Aloysius Paul D'Souza was born on 21 June 1941 in Hekkotu, a neighbourhood in the Agrar suburb of Bantwal, Dakshina Kannada. He was the sixth of seven children to Mathias and Isabella D'Souza. The family belonged to the D'Souza-Kamath clan, a Mangalorean Catholic clan of the same area. One of his brothers Fr. Charles D'Souza is a pastor in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Delhi, and one of his sisters Sr. Janis A.C., is a nun in Chandigarh. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Mangalore ( la, Diocesis Mangalorensis) is a diocese located in the city of Mangalore in the Ecclesiastical province of Bangalore in India. The diocese falls on the southwestern coast of India. At present, it comprises the whole civil districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi in Karnataka state. The area of the Diocese was collectively referred to as South Canara during the Company rule in India, in the subsequent British India after Direct rule from London commenced & in the early post-independence Bombay state, prior to the States Reorganisation Act (1956). Ambrose Madtha (2 November 1955 – 8 December 2012) was the Roman Catholic archbishop and the Nuncio to Ivory Coast. He was the sixth Indian to become an Apostolic Nuncio. Early life Ambrose Madtha was born in Belthangady, on 2 November 1955 to Joseph Madtha and Mary Madtha. Joseph Madtha (circa 1917 - 28 January 2007), son of David Madtha and Angeline Madtha was a humble and religious man. He lived a decent life with his wife Mary Madtha near the Most Holy Redeemer Church, Belthangady. He did his schooling at Church Higher Primary School, Belthangady which was near his home. Career Madtha was ordained as a priest on 28 March 1982. Jeppu is a locality in Mangalore city, Karnataka, India. It is situated on the southern part of Mangalore. Jeppu is on the bank of Nethravathi River.
