Alonzo T. Washington
Alonzo T. Washington (born September 2, 1983) is an American politician, appointed to the Maryland Senate in 2023 to represent District 22, which covers Prince George's County. He previously represented the district in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2012 to 2023 after being appointed to the seat by Governor Martin O'Malley. Early life and career Washington was born in Washington, D.C., and raised by his mother, Elizabeth Washington. When he was eight years old, he and his five siblings lived in a homeless shelter in College Park, Maryland. He graduated from Laurel High School in Laurel, Maryland. He was a member of both the track and football teams. Maryland's Legislative District 22 is one of 47 districts in the state for the Maryland General Assembly. It covers part of Prince George's County. Demographic characteristics As of the 2020 United States census, the district had a population of 144,235, of whom 108,328 (75.1%) were of voting age. The racial makeup of the district was 22,273 (15.4%) White, 65,577 (45.5%) African American, 2,014 (1.4%) Native American, 8,615 (6.0%) Asian, 16 (0.0%) Pacific Islander, 32,693 (22.7%) from some other race, and 12,978 (9.0%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 46,420 (32.2%) of the population. CASA De Maryland
CASA (formerly ''CASA of Maryland'') is a Latino and immigration advocacy-and-assistance organization based in Maryland. It is active throughout the state, but has major foci in Prince George's County, Montgomery County and Baltimore. The 2016 Democratic National Convention was a presidential nominating convention, held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from July 25 to 28, 2016. William A. Campos (born October 7, 1974) is an American politician from Prince George's County, Maryland convicted for corruption in 2018. He served in the Maryland House of Delegates and on the Prince George's County Council. Early life Born in El Salvador, Campos attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland; the University of Maryland, College Park, receiving a B.A. in ancient art history & archaeology; and the University of Maryland, University College, receiving a B.S. in computer studies & information systems. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. () is the oldest intercollegiate historically African American fraternity. It was initially a literary and social studies club organized in the 1905–1906 school year at Cornell University but later evolved into a fraternity with a founding date of December 4, 1906. It employs an icon from Ancient Egypt, the Great Sphinx of Giza, as its symbol. Laurel, Maryland
Laurel is a city in Maryland, United States, located midway between Washington and Baltimore on the banks of the Patuxent River. While the city limits are entirely in northern Prince George's County, outlying developments extend into Anne Arundel, Montgomery and Howard counties.
