Along Came Daffy
''Along Came Daffy'' is a 1947 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Friz Freleng and written by Michael Maltese and Tedd Pierce. The cartoon was released on June 14, 1947, and stars Daffy Duck and Yosemite Sam. ''Along Came Daffy'' is one of only two Warner Bros. shorts (the other being 1962's ''Honey's Money'') in which Yosemite Sam is not paired with Bugs Bunny. (At one point, Daffy does imitate "carrot chewing" and ask, "Eh, what's cookin', Doc?", a variant of Bugs's "What's up, Doc?" catchphrase.) The cartoon reused the scenario of two characters trying to eat Daffy from the 1942 black-and-white short ''Daffy's Southern Exposure'' from a different point of view, which was directed by animator Norman McCabe. Plot Yosemite Sam and his black-haired twin brother are starving in a snowbound cabin. Friz Freleng
Isadore "Friz" Freleng (August 21, 1905May 26, 1995), credited as I. Freleng early in his career, was an American animator, cartoonist, director, producer, and composer known for his work at Warner Bros. Cartoons on the ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons. In total he created more than 300 cartoons. He introduced and/or developed several of the studio's biggest stars, including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam (to whom he was said to bear more than a passing resemblance), and Speedy Gonzales. The senior director at Warners' Termite Terrace studio, Freleng directed more cartoons than any other director in the studio (a total of 266), and is also the most honored of the Warner directors, having won five Academy Awards and three Emmy Awards. Bugs Bunny
Bugs Bunny is an animated cartoon character created in the late 1930s by Leon Schlesinger Productions (later Warner Bros. Cartoons) and voiced originally by Mel Blanc. Bugs is best known for his starring roles in the '' Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of animated short films, produced by Warner Bros. Though an early iteration of the character first appeared in the WB cartoon ''Porky's Hare Hunt'' (1938) and a few subsequent shorts, the definitive characterization of Bugs Bunny is widely credited to have debuted in Tex Avery's Oscar-nominated film ''A Wild Hare'' (1940). Bob Givens is credited for Bugs' initial character design, though Robert McKimson is credited for what became Bugs' definitive design just a few years later.
