Almost Human is a 1927 American silent drama film directed by Frank Urson, starring Vera Reynolds and Kenneth Thomson, produced by Cecil B. DeMille and William C. de Mille, and distributed through Pathé Exchange. The picture was based upon a novel by Richard Harding Davis entitled ''The Bar Sinister''. Frank Urson
Frank John Urson (March 21, 1887 – August 17, 1928) was an American silent film Film director, director and cinematographer from Chicago, Illinois. Originally a photographer, he moved on to cinematography and film directing for the Thanhouser Company in New Rochelle, New York. He is also credited with acting in one film, ''Her Gallant Knights'', which starred William Garwood in 1913. Urson directed ''Changing Husbands''. He is perhaps best known for his 1927 film ''Chicago (1927 film), Chicago'', produced by Cecil B. DeMille. Biography He was born on March 21, 1887, in Chicago, Illinois. Ethel Wales (April 4, 1878 – February 15, 1952) was an American actress who appeared in more than 130 films during her 30-year career. Biography Born in 1878 in Passaic, New Jersey, Wales graduated from "Wisconsin university". Wales had a multifaceted professional relationship with Cecil DeMille and William deMille, beginning with her acting in their plays in the eastern United States. When the brothers moved to Hollywood and began working with films, Wales was their secretary and casting director. In 1927, Cecil De Mille signed her to a long-term contract to act in films. Her first film for Cecil DeMille was ''The Whispering Chorus'' (1918). She was the first wife of Wellington E. Wales, Mary Pickford's business manager during the height of her popularity. Fred Walton (actor)
Fred Walton (July 26, 1865 – December 28, 1936) was an English stage actor who immigrated to the United States in the early part of the 20th century and became a character actor and director in American silent and early sound films. Life and career Born on 26 July 1865 in Brighton, England, he appeared on the stage in England prior to moving to the United States. In 1905 he appeared in a production of ''The Babes and the Baron'', which ran at the Theatre Royal in Birmingham. The following year, the play was produced by Lee and J.J. Shubert at the Lyric Theatre in New York City, where Walton reprised his role as The Toy Soldier. He remained in the United States, and in 1910 and 1911 he starred in several film shorts, for the Selig Polyscope Company in Chicago and for the Powers Moving Picture Company, a New York studio that in 1912 merged with Independent Moving Pictures.
