History The town of Almont was platted in 1881 on the Fisher Ranch. Samual Fisher allegedly named the town for Almont of Kentucky, the horse that sired his favorite stallion. Almont is a village in Almont Township, Lapeer County, Michigan. Its population was 2,846 at the 2020 census. History Almont was first settled in 1828 by James Deneen. It received a post office in 1835 named Bristol, for Oliver Bristol, the second permanent settler. The village was platted as Newburg in 1836, and renamed Almont in 1846. Almont is a populated place in West Rockhill Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States, approximately one-half mile west of Sellersville. History The area was settled mostly by Pennsylvania Germans in the early 1700s. Early religions were Lutheran from the Old Goshenhoppen parish, Reformed and Mennonite. In 1826 land for the first church was donated by Enos Schlichter, built and shared by the three congregations. In 1868, Jacob Schlichter became the first postmaster and named it Schlichter, the post office was later changed to Almont as well as the community.
