Alma Valencia
Alma Jane Valencia Escoto (born 18 October 1990) is a Mexican freestyle wrestler. In the 55 kg category, she won the silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games, having finished seventh in 2011. She won three bronze medals at the Pan American Wrestling Championships in 2010, 2011 and 2013. She also won a silver and gold medal at the 2010 and 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games respectively, both in the 55 kg category. Valencia qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in the women's freestyle 57 kg category at the 2020 Pan American Qualification Tournament in Ottawa, Canada. In October 2021, she was eliminated in her first match in the women's 57 kg event at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships in Oslo, Norway. Zapopan, Jalisco
Zapopan () is a city and municipality located in the Mexican state of Jalisco. Part of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, the population of Zapopan city proper makes it the second largest city in the state, very close behind the population of Guadalajara proper. It is best known as being the home of the Virgin of Zapopan, an image of the Virgin Mary which was made in the 16th century. Jaime Espinal
Jaime Yusept Espinal Fajardo (born October 14, 1984) is a Dominican-born Puerto Rican freestyle wrestler. In 2012 he became the first Olympic medalist in wrestling for Puerto Rico by winning a silver medal in the 84 kg division. Early years and education Espinal was born to Jaime Felix Espinal and Alejandrina Fajardo Hernández. He has two siblings: Stanley and Rosemary. When he was 5 years old, his family moved to Puerto Rico. Espinal studied at the Baptist College and then Gabriela Mistral High School. He began wrestling when he was nine years old when coach Pedro Rojas approached him and other kids and invited them to Club Sparta in Río Piedras along with Franklin Gómez. When he was 15 years old, Espinal and his mother moved to Brooklyn, New York. Espinal stated he had to deal with racism and fights "every two or three days". Hannah Fay Taylor (born 30 April 1998) is a Canadian freestyle wrestler. Taylor competed for Canada at the 2019 Pan American Games, and at the Pan American Wrestling Championships she won the silver medal in 2019 and 2020. She won one of the bronze medals in the women's 57kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England. She is a member of the women's wrestling team at Brock University. Personal life Taylor was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and raised in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island. She currently resides in the Niagara Region and studies sport management at Brock University. The 2022 Pan American Wrestling Championships was the 35th edition of Pan American Wrestling Championships of combined events. It was held from May 5 to 8 in Acapulco, Mexico. The event was originally scheduled for Santiago, Chile, before being moved to Acapulco. A press release issued in February 2022 stated that "The requirement decided by the Ministry of Health (Chile), Chilean Ministry of Health did not guarantee the participation of all countries."
