Alma Rayford
Alma Rayford (March 24, 1903 – February 14, 1987) was an American film actress of the silent era. Rayford specialized in western films, appearing in 18 features and a number of two-reel films. Muskogee, Oklahoma
Muskogee () is the thirteenth-largest city in Oklahoma and the county seat of Muskogee County. Home to Bacone College, it lies approximately southeast of Tulsa. The population of the city was 36,878 as of the 2020 census, a 6.0 percent decrease from 39,223 in 2010. History French fur traders were believed to have established a temporary village near the future Muskogee in 1806, but the first permanent European-American settlement was established in 1817 on the south bank of the Verdigris River, north of present-day Muskogee. After the passage of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 under President Andrew Jackson, the Muscogee Creek Indians were one of the "Five Civilized Tribes" forced out of the American Southeast to Indian Territory. They were accompanied by their slaves. The Indian Agency, a two-story stone building, was built here in Muskogee. It was a site for meetings among the leaders of the Five Civilized Tribes. The Phantom Buster
''The Phantom Buster'' is a 1927 American silent Western film directed by William Bertram and featuring Boris Karloff in a supporting role. Plot Bill Turner, a construction worker, steals from the corporate payroll for a gang and frames his lookalike Jeff McCloud for the crime. After Turner gets killed in an armed robbery by Jim Breed, Jeff escapes from prison and takes Turner's place in the gang, which is smuggling firearms across the Mexico–United States border. After an ambush McCloud is cared for by Babs, who was betrothed to Turner by her grandfather. Breed appears and reveals Jeff's ruse, but he and Babs are rescued by law enforcement. ''Between Dangers'' is a 1927 American silent Western film. Directed by Richard Thorpe, the film stars Buddy Roosevelt, Alma Rayford, and Rennie Young. It was released on February 13, 1927. Plot When Tom Rawlins inherits a ranch, he heads out to take possession. On the way he is waylaid by three crooks in a saloon who knock him out and take the ownership papers to the ranch. When he wakes up, he hitches a ride on a freight train which drops him off in Cactus City, the nearest town to his ranch. Shortly after his arrival, the local bank is robbed and one of the citizens is killed. Santine, the foreman at the Cross P Ranch, Rawlins' inheritance, incites the citizenry to believe that Rawlins is the culprit in the bank robbery, and he is arrested. However, while in jail he convinces the sheriff and the sheriff's daughter, Sue Conway, that he is innocent.
