Alma Dayer LeBaron, Sr.
Alma Dayer LeBaron Sr. (March 15, 1886 – 1951) was a Mormon fundamentalist who was the father of a number of leaders and church founders in Mormon fundamentalism. LeBaron was generally known as Dayer LeBaron and was the grandson of Benjamin F. Johnson, who was a confidential secretary and part-time business partner to Joseph Smith, the founder of the Latter Day Saint movement. LeBaron was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) until he was excommunicated on February 17, 1924, for practicing plural marriage. LeBaron made a written request for permission to return to the church on March 24, 1934, but he died in 1951 without being readmitted to the LDS Church. LeBaron's childhood was spent in Mesa, Arizona, living not far from his grandfather Benjamin F. Johnson. LeBaron Family
The Church of the Firstborn (or the "LeBarón family") is a grouping of competing factions of a Mormon fundamentalist religious lineage inherited, adherents believe, by a polygamous family community that had settled in Chihuahua, Mexico, by Alma Dayer LeBaron Sr. by 1924. Factions accepting leadership succession by some of Alma Dayer LeBaron Sr.'s sons self-describe as members of the Church of the Firstborn, without a legally formalized organization. What became over time the most substantial faction is that of Church of the Firstborn of the Fulness of Times, often shortened as the ''Church of the Firstborn,'' which was founded in September 1955 by three of Alma's sons, Joel, R. "The Council of Fifty" (also known as "the Living Constitution", "the Kingdom of God", or its name by revelation, "The Kingdom of God and His Laws with the Keys and Power thereof, and Judgment in the Hands of His Servants, Ahman Christ") was a Latter Day Saint organization established by Joseph Smith in 1844 to symbolize and represent a future theocratic or theodemocratic "Kingdom of God" on the earth. Smith prophetically claimed that this Kingdom would be established in preparation for the Millennium and the Second Coming of Jesus. The political Kingdom of God, organized around the Council of Fifty, was meant to be a force of peace and order in the midst of this chaos. Joseph Smith Jr
Joseph Smith Jr. (December 23, 1805June 27, 1844) was an American religious leader and founder of Mormonism and the Latter Day Saint movement. When he was 24, Smith published the Book of Mormon. By the time of his death, 14 years later, he had attracted tens of thousands of followers and founded a religion that continues to the present with millions of global adherents. Smith was born in Sharon, Vermont. By 1817, he had moved with his family to Western New York, the site of intense religious revivalism during the Second Great Awakening. Smith said he experienced a series of visions, including one in 1820 during which he saw "two personages" (whom he eventually described as God the Father and Jesus Christ), and another in 1823 in which an angel directed him to a buried book of golden plates inscribed with a Judeo-Christian history of an ancient American civilization. In the Latter Day Saint movement, the Presiding Patriarch (also called Presiding Evangelist, Patriarch over the Church, Patriarch of the Church, or Patriarch to the Church) is a church-wide leadership office within the priesthood. Among the duties of the Presiding Patriarch are to preside in council meetings, ordain other patriarchs, and administer patriarchal blessings.
