Kelly Melissa Sweet (born March 29, 1988), also known professionally as Haliene (; stylized as HALIENE), is an American singer of electropop and electronic dance music. She is known for her vocal collaborations with Electronic dance music, EDM artists Armin van Buuren, Seven Lions, ATB, Ferry Corsten, Aly & Fila and her song with Gareth Emery & Standerwick, "Saving Light", which won the A State of Trance award, "Tune of the Year," by Armin van Buuren. Life and career Kelly Sweet was born in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, on March 29, 1988, to pianist Jeffrey Howard Sweet and artist Candace Lynn Sweet. Born into a musical household, she was raised on the jazz standards that were part of her father's repertoire. Soon after she could walk, Haliene learned musical notes with her father's help. Saving Light
"Saving Light" is a song by English trance producers Gareth Emery and Standerwick, featuring vocals from Haliene. Roxanne Emery, Haliene, Matthew Steeper, and Karra wrote the song. It premiered in June 2016, during the Electric Daisy Carnival music festival and was digitally released on 30 January 2017. "Saving Light" is an uplifting trance song with lyrics about standing up to bullying and supporting victims by being their "saving light". Monstercat released the song as part of an initiative called "Make Trance No. 1 Again". Their goal was to encourage fans to purchase "Saving Light" on Beatport to support Ditch the Label and get the song to the top of the Beatport charts; this was achieved on 16 February 2017. Nicholas Daniel Miller (born December 26, 1990), professionally known as Illenium, is an American DJ, record producer, and songwriter. He has released four studio albums, his most recent being '' Fallen Embers'', released in July 2021. It earned Illenium his first Grammy nomination. One of Illenium's more notable albums, ''Ascend'', was released in August 2019 on Astralwerks. The album was Illenium's first to top the ''Billboard'' Dance/Electronic Albums chart and also reached his highest peak on the ''Billboard'' 200 at number 14. Gareth Thomas Rhys Emery (born 18 July 1980) is a British trance producer and DJ. He is best known for his three studio albums: '' Northern Lights'', ''Drive'' and '' 100 Reasons to Live'', and winning the prestigious A State of Trance Tune of the Year award three times. Background Gareth Emery was born in Southampton, England, United Kingdom His sister is the singer-songwriter Roxanne Emery. He lived in Southampton until the age of 26 before relocating to Manchester where he had a studio and ran a night club and record label, both called Garuda. Vocal trance is a subgenre of trance music that focuses on vocals and melodies. The subgenre came into existence in the early 1990s, when trance was still developing. Although many early trance records used vocal samples mixed in with the beats, the earliest examples of the style appeared in 1992–93. Characteristics A typical track consists of three elements, though later tracks labeled ''vocal trance'' may not include all of them. A track begins with an intro of progressive beats. Ferry Corsten (; born 4 December 1973) is a Dutch disc jockey, record producer and remixer from Rotterdam.
