Aaliyah Alicia Alleyne (born 11 November 1994) is a Barbadian cricketer who plays as a right-arm medium bowler. In October 2019, she was named in the West Indies squad for their series against India. She made her Women's One Day International (WODI) debut for the West Indies against India on 1 November 2019. She made her Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) debut for the West Indies, also against India, on 9 November 2019. Haynes Gibbes Alleyne
Hayes Gibbes Alleyne (born Saint James, Barbados 14 October 1813, died Sydney, 9 September 1882) was a physician and zoologist who practised in Australia and who is well known for his studies on the fishes of Australia. Alleyne was born on 14 October 1813 in Saint James on Barbados, his father was John Gay Alleyne, a plantation owner, and his mother was Johanna Bishop, a granddaughter of General Fitzroy Maclean. Alleyne is known to have studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh but he left there for New South Wales, arriving in April 1839. He seems to have taken part in a cattle farming venture with a cousin but this failed and after he was declared insolvent in 1844 he then left Australia. He was originally headed for the Marquesas but changed his mind and disembarked in New Zealand where he took up a military commission and fought in the Hone Heke War. Thyra Blanche Alleyne (1875–1954) was one of the first women to graduate from Durham University and, for nearly 30 years, principal of College Hall, London. Early life Alleyne was the second daughter of Forster Alleyne of Clifton and Barbados. The Alleynes were a prominent family of plantocracy of Barbados. Her aunt was Leonora Blanche Lang (née Alleyne), wife of folklorist Andrew Lang and coauthor (with her husband) of the well-known "Coloured" Fairy Books. Thomas Alleyne
Thomas Alleyne (c.1488–1558) was an English priest of the sixteenth century. He is remembered for founding schools. Details of his early life are lacking, although he appears to have had roots in Staffordshire where he later endowed two schools. The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography states that he was probably born in Sudbury (on the border between Staffordshire and Derbyshire). He was possibly educated at Cambridge. By 1526 Alleyne became rector of Stevenage, Hertfordshire. He was buried in St Nicholas' Church, Stevenage, although no memorial survives there. Legacy In 1547 Thomas Alleyne received a legacy from his brother Ralph, who was interested in supporting charitable work. Ralph was a businessman who served as Sheriff of the City of London. Mark Wayne Alleyne (born 23 May 1968) is a former English cricket coach and first-class cricketer who made ten One Day International appearances for England between 1998/99 and 2000/01. Classed as an all-rounder, he mostly batted in the middle of the order and bowled at a medium pace, but he has also kept wicket for both England and his county, Gloucestershire. He is the first Black British and third Black overall to coach an English first-class cricket team after Derief Taylor and John Shepherd.
