Allen C. Anthony
Allen C. Anthony ( - May 10, 1962) was an American actor and announcer on radio and television. Early years Anthony was a native of Boyle County, Kentucky. He was educated at Elmwood Academy, LaSalle University, Blackstone School of Law, and the College of Religious Sciences in New York. Career Anthony began working on radio in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1932. After a short time at station WAVE, he moved to WHAS, where he worked for approximately three years. In the late 1930s, he was the chief announcer at KWK radio in St. Louis, Missouri. Anthony was announcer and master of ceremonies on the ''Dr. I.Q.'' radio program from 1938 to 1950. Radio historian John Dunning wrote, "Allen C. Anthony, the Mars announcer, was well known for his ability to make the candy as appealing as the money". Boyle County, Kentucky
Boyle County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 30,614. Its county seat is Danville. The county was formed in 1842 and named for John Boyle (1774–1835), a U.S. Representative, chief justice of the Kentucky Court of Appeals , and later federal judge for the District of Kentucky, and is part of the Danville, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area. History In 1820, a portion of Casey County, now south of KY Route 300, was annexed to Mercer County. This became part of Boyle County when Boyle County was formed on February 15, 1842, from sections of Lincoln County and Mercer County. ''Inner Sanctum Mystery'', also known as ''Inner Sanctum'', is a popular old-time radio program that aired from January 7, 1941, to October 5, 1952. It was created by producer Himan Brown and was based on the imprint (trade name), imprint given to the mystery novels of Simon & Schuster. In all, 526 episodes were broadcast. Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center was a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia operated by Wellstar Health System. It had 460 beds and over 700 physicians. The hospital was a Level I Trauma Center, and an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. It housed a Neurointensive Care Unit and a Level III Neonatal ICU. It was formerly known as Georgia Baptist Hospital. History On Thanksgiving Day 1901, the pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Len G. Broughton M.D., created a small infirmary as a new program for his church, operating it out of a rented house. The Tabernacle Infirmary started with only five beds and Broughton as the only doctor, but quickly grew. By 1910 it had 75 beds and a staff of physicians and surgeons, and its own building on Luckie Street (adjacent to The Tabernacle). Broughton also founded a Nurse Training School associated with the Infirmary. After Broughton left Atlanta for London in 1912, the hospital suffered somewhat.
