Allen Blanchard
Cecil Allen Blanchard (17 April 1929 – 25 October 2008) was an Australian federal politician. Biography Born in London, England, Blanchard migrated to Australia, where he was educated at the Institute of Technology in Western Australia. He subsequently returned to England for tertiary education at the University of London, and later became a social worker and criminologist, before taking up a post as a training and staff development officer. In 1983, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Labor member for the Division of Moore, defeating sitting Liberal member John Hyde. He held the seat until 1990, when a redistribution made his seat marginally Liberal. He opted to run for reelection, and was defeated by Liberal Paul Filing on a swing of six percent. Division Of Moore
The Division of Moore is an Australian electoral division in the state of Western Australia. History The Division was named after George Fletcher Moore, the first Advocate-General of Western Australia, and is at present a safe Liberal seat held by Ian Goodenough since the 2013 federal election, having changed significantly throughout its history in both geographical area and in political character. Due to significant demographic change, the seat's boundaries and constituency has evolved considerably since it was proclaimed at the 11 May 1949 redistribution. At that time, it was basically a rural electorate, which included parts of the Wheatbelt along the Indian Ocean coast to the north and east of Perth, the state capital — a similar region to that presently covered by the state seat of Moore. Its composition and powers are established in Chapter I of the Constitution of Australia. The term of members of the House of Representatives is a maximum of three years from the date of the first sitting of the House, but on only one occasion since Federation has the maximum term been reached. Aboriginal Homelands Movement
An outstation, homeland or homeland community is a very small, often remote, permanent community of Aboriginal Australian people connected by kinship, on land that often, but not always, has social, cultural or economic significance to them, as traditional land. The outstation movement or homeland movement refers to the voluntary relocation of Aboriginal people from towns to these locations. The outstation movement A movement arose in the 1970s and continued through the 1980s which saw the creation of very small, remote settlements of Aboriginal people who relocated themselves from the towns and settlements where they had been settled by the government's policy of assimilation.
