Allegro De Concert (Chopin)
Frédéric Chopin's ''Allegro de concert'', Op. 46, is a piece for piano, published in November 1841. It is in one movement and takes between 11 and 15 minutes to play. The principal themes are bold and expressive. It has a curious place in the Chopin canon, and while its history is obscure, the evidence supports the view, shared by Robert Schumann and others, that it started out as the first movement of a projected third piano concerto, of which the orchestral parts are either now non-existent or were never scored at all. There is no evidence that Chopin ever even started work on the latter movements of this concerto. History Chopin published his two piano concertos in 1830. That same year he wrote that he was planning a concerto for two pianos and orchestra, and would play it with his friend Tomasz Napoleon Nidecki if he managed to finish it. He worked on it for some months but he had the greatest difficulty with it, and this work never eventuated; however, he may have used ...

Concert Allegro (Elgar)
The ''Concert Allegro'', Op. 46 by Sir Edward Elgar is a piece of music for solo piano. It takes about 10 minutes to perform. It is the only piano work he wrote that was designed for concert performance. It is in the key of C major and was written in 1901, at the request of the pianist Fanny Davies. Background of composition Elgar was not a great lover of the piano, and he was busy organising the first performance of his oratorio ''The Dream of Gerontius'' in Düsseldorf. He wrote the piece reluctantly, only after constant pleading from Davies for a new piece for her repertoire. When he did start on it, however, he wrote quickly, and indeed it shows some evidence of hasty composition. Elgar consulted Fanny Davies during the writing of the work, and she made a number of suggestions for improvements, signing her notations "Humbly, F.D.". Dedication and first performance Elgar dedicated the ''Concert Allegro'' to Fanny Davies, and she gave the first performance at St James's Hal ...

Allegro De Concierto (Granados)
The ''Allegro de concierto'' in C major, Op. 46, is a virtuosic showpiece for piano by Enrique Granados, composed between 1903 and 1904. Its lyricism and technical brilliance, reminiscent of Franz Liszt, have made it one of the composer's most popular works. History The ''Allegro de concierto'' was submitted to a competition organized by Tomás Bretón of the Madrid Royal Conservatory in 1903, which awarded a considerable sum of 500 pesetas for the best "concert allegro" for solo piano. Twenty-four composers participated, among them the young Manuel de Falla, who received an honorable mention. The jury declared Granados the winner with an almost unanimous vote. The composition brought Granados to national attention. Structure The structure of the work is somewhat unusual for Granados, as it is held in the traditional sonata form. It is reminiscent of Franz Liszt in its virtuosic piano writing, featuring rapid octaves and arpeggios that span the entire keyboard, and in its u ...
