The Allegheny County Sheriff's Office is a law enforcement agency that serves Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and is the largest sheriff's office in the state. The ACSO serves as a local arm of the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System in a number of roles, including: court security, writ services, sales, prisoner transportation, issuing of firearm licenses and execution of warrants. Allegheny County () is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is located in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Eugene L. Coon (November 15, 1928 – October 15, 1998) was a long-time Sheriff of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (serving Pittsburgh and its immediate suburbs) and an influential figure in the local Democratic Party. He was served in the U.S. Army in 1947–1948 and in 1950 for the Korean War until 1952. Early life Coon graduated from Perry High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1947.
