Allan Saxe Field
Allan Saxe Field is the home of the UTA Mavericks softball team located in Arlington, Texas. As a result of a complete reconstruction in 2014–15, the stadium currently has a capacity of 622. Prior to the renovation, the softball facility had a seating capacity of 250. Adjacent to Clay Gould Ballpark, the stadium is located at the intersection of W. Park Row Drive and Fielder Road. Features Allan Saxe Field consists of a combination of bleacher and chairback seating for 622 fans as a result of the complete stadium reconstruction following the 2014 season. The playing field is a natural grass surface while foul territory is an artificial turf. Each dugout is covered and looks out onto the dirt infield. There are batting cages and bullpens down each respective team's foul line. Lights make night games possible and a 10-foot-high, 10-inning scoreboard sits beyond the center field fence. Incarnate Word Cardinals
The Incarnate Word Cardinals, also known as UIW Cardinals, are composed of 23 teams representing the University of the Incarnate Word in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, and track and field. Men's sports include baseball and football. Women's sports include softball, synchronized swimming, and volleyball. The Cardinals compete in NCAA Division I and are members of the Southland Conference. UIW has sent multiple fencers to compete in multiple NCAA Fencing Championships (2016 & 2017). On November 12, 2021, Incarnate Word accepted their invitation to join the Western Athletic Conference in 2022. UT Arlington Mavericks Softball
The UT Arlington Mavericks softball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, Texas, United States. The team will be a member Western Athletic Conference in 2023, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The team plays its home games at Allan Saxe Field in Arlington, Texas. History UTA began playing intercollegiate softball in time for the fall 1973 season, under Coach Jody Conradt, who was also the volleyball and basketball coach. In their first season as members of the AIAW, UTA went 11–6 and finished 5th in the AIAW State Tournament. The Mavericks would play in the AIAW until joining the NCAA for the 1981–82 athletic season. Southland Conference
The Southland Conference, abbreviated as SLC, is a collegiate athletic conference which operates in the South Central United States (specifically Texas and Louisiana). Allan Saxe
Allan Saxe is an American political scientist, author, lecturer, radio commentator, philanthropist, and professor. A emeritus of political science at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he has been a faculty member since 1965, Saxe has since retired, although he would air on WBAP occasionally. Early life and education Saxe was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and earned his Ph.D in political science at the University of Oklahoma in the year 1969. As a child, he was diagnosed with polio and remained bedridden for several months. The case has since affected to where he is incapable of driving a car in his later years. Publications Saxe has published one book titled ''Politics of Arlington, Texas: An Era of Continuity and Growth'' and co-authored one other titled ''American Government: A Core Approach''.
