Al McDonald is a politician in Ontario, Canada, who was mayor of North Bay, Ontario from 2010 to 2022. He was previously a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 2002 to 2003, and ran unsuccessfully for the Conservative Party of Canada in the 2004 federal election. Background McDonald was born in Marville, France. Politics McDonald was politically active on North Bay City Council before entering provincial politics, serving as the deputy mayor of that city for a time. He also served on the North Bay Economic Development Commission, the North Bay Police Services Board, and other local programs. Father Allan MacDonald (Scottish Gaelic Maighstir Ailein, An t-Athair Ailean Dòmhnallach) (25 October 1859, Fort William, Scotland, Fort William, Scotland – 8 October 1905, Eriskay) was a Roman Catholic priest, radically innovative poet in the Scottish Gaelic language, folklorist, and activist for Crofting, Crofter's rights, free elections, and against religious discrimination in the Gàidhealtachd. Decades after his death in 1905, Fr. MacDonald's poetry was tracked down and published for the first time by John Lorne Campbell. Also, the sources of every hymn in the priest-poet's 1893 Gaelic hymnal and the degree to which Fr. Alan MacDonald (born 14 August 1961) is an Australian musician and lawyer, best known as the drummer of the 1980s band The Triffids, where he performed under his nickname 'Alsy'. He was born on 14 August 1961 to Prof. Bill MacDonald, a professor of child health at University of Western Australia, and Dr Judy Henzell ( AM), a well-known paediatrician. He was the youngest of the four children, with two older brothers and a sister. As a child he couldn't say 'Alan' properly so called himself 'Alsy'. Alan Douglas McDonald is a parish minister and was Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, from the Assembly of May 2006 until May 2007. McDonald was born in Glasgow and trained initially as a lawyer (gaining an LLB from the University of Strathclyde). He studied for the ministry at New College, Edinburgh (BD, MTh). He served as assistant minister in Greenside Parish Church, Edinburgh, and was subsequently a community minister in West Pilton, Edinburgh. Allan McDonald (born 1 March 1951) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Biography McDonald, a Sydney born player, represented the Australian Junior Davis Cup team in the late 1960s. He won the boys' singles title at the 1969 Australian Open and partnered with Greg Perkins to win the boys' doubles event at the 1970 Australian Open. On the men's circuit he competed until 1975 but was unable to replicate his junior success.
