Chokurdakh
Chokurdakh (russian: Чокурда́х; sah, Чокуурдаах) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) and the administrative center of Allaikhovsky District of the Sakha Republic, Russia. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 2,367. Geography Chokurdakh is located on the left bank of the Indigirka River, below its confluence with the Allaikha. The Yana-Indigirka Lowland lies to the west and northwest, and the Kondakov Plateau to the east, beyond the other bank of the Indigirka. History It was founded in 1936 as the new administrative center of Allaikhovsky District, which was established in 1931. The Bolshaya Ercha (russian: Большая Эрча) is a river in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Russia. It is a tributary of the Indigirka. The river has a length of and a drainage basin area of . The river flows north of the Arctic Circle, across desolate territories of the Allaikhovsky District. Course The Bolshaya Ercha is a right tributary of the Indigirka. It has its sources in the northern slopes of the Ulakhan-Sis range. The river flows first northwestwards in its uppermost section, and then in a roughly western / WSW direction skirting the Kondakov Plateau which rises to the north. In its last stretch the river descends into the Indigirka floodplain among numerous lakes where it meanders strongly, forming oxbow lakes. Yana-Indigirka Lowland
The Yana-Indigirka Lowland (russian: Яно-Индигирская низменность; sah, Дьааҥы - Индигир намтала) is a large, low alluvial plain located in northern Siberia, Far Eastern Federal District, Russia. Administratively most of the territory of the lowland is part of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). There are inhabited centers of population in the lowlands such as Chokurdakh, Olenegorsk and Nizhneyansk, but these are very few and scattered. Geography The lowland is named after the Yana River in the west and the Indigirka River in the east and is crossed by both rivers in their middle and lower courses. The area is mostly flat and very marshy, its northern limits extending for over from the Buor Khaya Gulf of the Laptev Sea in the west to the delta of river Indigirka in the East Siberian Sea in the east.
