''All the Good Shit: 14 Solid Gold Hits 2000–2008'' (known as ''8 Years of Blood, Sake and Tears: The Best of Sum 41 2000–2008'' in Japan) is a greatest hits album by Canadian rock band Sum 41. The Japanese version was released on November 26, 2008, and the worldwide version was released on March 17, 2009. This is the band's first greatest hits album. It includes singles from each of the band's studio albums, as well as a previously unreleased song, "Always". The release also includes a bonus DVD with all of the band's music videos (excluding " Some Say" and " Handle This"). Sum 41
Sum 41 is a Canadian rock band from Ajax, Ontario. Originally called Kaspir, the band was formed in 1996 and currently consists of Deryck Whibley (lead vocals, guitars, keyboards), Dave Baksh (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jason "Cone" McCaslin (bass, backing vocals), Tom Thacker (guitars, keyboards, backing vocals), and Frank Zummo (drums, percussion, occasional backing vocals). In 1999, Sum 41 signed an international record deal with Island Records and released its first EP, ''Half Hour of Power'', in 2000. The band released its debut album, ''All Killer No Filler'', in 2001. The album achieved mainstream success with its first single, "Fat Lip", which reached number one on the ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart and remains the band's most successful single to date. ''Does This Look Infected?'' is the second studio album by Canadian rock band Sum 41. It was released on November 26, 2002. It is their only album to feature a Parental Advisory label on the cover, despite the fact that other albums by the band also feature profanity. It was released in both explicit and edited versions. Music, lyrics and composition The album is a lot more aggressive, darker and heavier than Sum 41's previous studio album, ''All Killer No Filler''. It also has fewer elements of pop music than ''All Killer No Filler''. Described as heavy metal, horror punk, punk rock, pop punk, and melodic hardcore, the album uses elements of heavy metal, hardcore punk, thrash metal, d-beat and, on the song "Thanks for Nothing", hip hop. Although the album has been described as pop punk by some sources, ''Counterculture.co.uk'' considered it an album that shows Sum 41 abandoning the pop punk genre for a more standard punk rock style. Half Hour Of Power
''Half Hour of Power'' is the debut extended play by Canadian rock band Sum 41. It was released on June 27, 2000 on Big Rig Records, a subsidiary of Island Records (United States), and Aquarius Records (Canada). The cover features the band's then-drummer Steve Jocz aiming a Nerf gun up in the air and standing in front of an explosion in the background. Though officially an EP, ''Half Hour of Power'' may also be considered the band's debut studio album. Most of the songs featured on the EP were included as bonus tracks on Sum 41's actual debut studio album ''All Killer No Filler'', which featured a re-recorded version of ''Half Hour of Powers sixth track "Summer". "Underclass Hero" is the first single from Sum 41's fourth studio album of the same name. The song impacted radio on May 15, 2007. The song in its entirety was leaked on April 23 from a 91X podcast interview with Deryck Whibley. It was confirmed on Sum 41's official site that this would be the opening track for the album. The song was used in the EA Sports video game ''Madden 08'' and Sony's ''NBA 08''. It is the band's first single since the departure of guitarist Dave Baksh. Overview "Underclass Hero" was written by Whibley in 2003 with a theme of "us against them", similar to their previous lyrics. History According to Ben Cook of Fucked Up, No Warning and Young Guv, "In Too Deep" was originally a reggae song, to be released by writer Greig Nori's band Treble Charger and feature rapper Snow in the verses. Singer Deryck Whibley told Kerrang that one night when he was 18, he and his friend, guitarist Dave Baksh, were going to drive to downtown Toronto to hang out. Baksh was very late in picking Whibley up, and Whibley started playing around with his guitar while sitting by the window and waiting. ''Underclass Hero'' is the fourth studio album by Canadian rock band Sum 41. It is the first of two albums by the band recorded without guitarist Dave Baksh since he left a year earlier to focus on Brown Brigade. The album was recorded as a three-piece. ''Chuck'' is the third studio album by Canadian rock band Sum 41. The album was released on October 12, 2004. It is the band's last album to feature guitarist Dave Baksh as he left Sum 41 on May 11, 2006, to pursue his career with his own band Brown Brigade. This is the final album to feature the full classic lineup (Baksh, Deryck Whibley, Cone McCaslin and Steve Jocz). Baksh returned in 2015, but Frank Zummo replaced Jocz that same year. ''Chuck'' peaked at No. 2 on the Canadian Albums Chart and No. 10 on the US ''Billboard'' 200, making it the band's highest-charting album until it would be surpassed by ''Underclass Hero'' in 2007. We're All To Blame
"We're All to Blame" is a song by Canadian rock band Sum 41. It was released to radio on August 31, 2004, as the first single from ''Chuck''. Content Frontman Deryck Whibley said the song is about war, death, fear, corporate power and other concerns, and was written after the band's trip to the Congo, making it the last song written for ''Chuck''. Music video The video, directed by Marc Klasfeld, is a spoof of Solid Gold and features the Solid Gold dancers. At the end of the video, the announcer says that the next guest is Pain For Pleasure, Sum 41's heavy metal alter ego band. Reception Fox83 of Sputnikmusic called the song an "impressive approach lyrically" and said "If System of a Down's 'Chop Suey!' had never been released then this could be leaning on originality.
