"All by Myself" is a song recorded by the English rock group Bee Gees in 1966 and was not released until 1970 when it was included on ''Inception/Nostalgia''. It was written by Maurice Gibb, who also sings lead vocals on this track. According to Allmusic's Steve Leggett, the song was influenced by Beatles along with three other songs by the Bee Gees, "How Many Birds", "Exit, Stage Right" and " Coalman". Origin and lyrics It was the first song written and credited to Maurice Gibb alone, and was also his first solo lead vocal on a Bee Gees record. The song features a hard distorted electric guitar. The Bee Gees were a musical group formed in 1958 by brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. Ronald Stewart Tudor MBE (18 May 1924 – 21 August 2020) was an Australian music producer, engineer, label owner and record industry executive. He started his career with W&G Records in 1956 as a sales representative; he became their in-house producer and A&R agent before leaving in 1966. Colin Petersen
Frederick Colin Petersen (born 24 March 1946) is an Australian drummer, record producer and former child actor. He played as a member of the bands Steve and the Board, the Bee Gees and Humpy Bong. In August 1969, he left the Bee Gees and he was replaced by Pentangle drummer Terry Cox to record the songs for their 1970 album '' Cucumber Castle''. His scenes from the film of the same name were cut, and he is not credited on the accompanying album soundtrack, even though he does play on some songs. Inception/Nostalgia
''Inception/Nostalgia'' is a 1970 compilation album of previously unreleased songs recorded by the Bee Gees in 1966. This double album contains a mixture of both self-penned songs and covers. The first LP in the set is titled ''Inception'' while the second LP is titled ''Nostalgia'', hence the album title. Supposedly intended as a follow-up to the three volumes of ''Rare, Precious and Beautiful'' this set was first issued by Karussell in Germany and by Triumph in France, both being Polydor budget labels and therefore linked to their licensing deal with Festival Records. The Gibb brothers were unaware of its release until Maurice saw one during a skiing holiday in Switzerland.
