All Request Live
''All Request Live'' is the fourth live album by the American rock band Ween, and the third to be released on their home record label Chocodog Records. The performance was webcast on July 22, 2003 and released on November 22, 2003. A Pitchfork Media review calls it "unquestionably the brownest live Ween of them all." ''All Request Live'' features tracks performed live as part of a web radio broadcast, playing songs selected by fans on the band's message board. Ween
Ween is an American rock band from New Hope, Pennsylvania, formed in 1984 by Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo, better known by their respective stage names, Gene and Dean Ween. Generally categorized as an alternative rock band, the band are known for their irreverent, highly eclectic catalog of songs inspired by funk, soul, country, gospel, prog, psychedelia, R&B, heavy metal, and punk rock. Ween self-released several cassette albums from their formation until 1989. Afterward, they put out three officially-released lo-fi albums: '' GodWeenSatan: The Oneness'' (1990); ''The Pod'' (1991); and ''Pure Guava'' (1992). ''Quebec'' is the eighth studio album by the American rock band Ween, released on August 5, 2003, on Sanctuary Records. It was the first album released after the band's contract with Elektra expired, and marked its return to independent labels. On August 11, 2011, Dean Ween quietly released a two-disc, MP3-only collection of songs, ''The Caesar Demos'', named after the band's original working title for ''Quebec''—to friends on his Facebook page. In his comment, he stated the songs were all recorded between 2001 and 2003 while drummer Claude Coleman, Jr. was recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident, and that many of the tracks featured only himself and Gene. In addition to a handful of recordings that eventually made the album, the demos feature several alternate takes as well as a number of songs that have remained unreleased. ''Live in Chicago'' is a live by the American rock band Ween, released in 2004. It is the band's fifth live album, and the second album overall that they released on Sanctuary Records. The album's performance took place at The Vic Theatre in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Packaged alternately as a CD with bonus DVD or a DVD with bonus CD, ''Live in Chicago'' documents two nights of a show the group did in Chicago in support of their album ''Quebec''. The DVD features a wide variety of Ween songs, covering nearly every Ween album except '' 12 Golden Country Greats'' and even features a cover of the Led Zeppelin classic "All My Love". Also, the DVD contains alternate camera angles for three of the performances, and a bonus music video for the song "Transdermal Celebration". The CD, in comparison, contains fewer songs and a different track list. ''Pitchfork'' (formerly ''Pitchfork Media'') is an American online music publication (currently owned by Condé Nast) that was launched in 1995 by writer Ryan Schreiber as an independent music blog. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music.
