It is licensed in French by Casterman and in Traditional Chinese by Sharp Point Press. Reception ''All My Darling Daughters'' was a Jury Recommended Work in the 2004 Japan Media Arts Festival. M. Natali, for BDGest, says that the manga "shows the evolution of the ideals of young girls of today". M. Natali felt the closeup pictures were effective in showing attitudes and emotions but regretted the at times over-long dialogues. The reviewer for Manga News described the story as "sweet and poignant" but not weepy, as there was humour. Deb Aoki, writing for About.com, says that "we see the life-changing decisions and the complexities of love and family relationships in modern Japan, as only Fumi Yoshinaga (creator of Ooku and Antique Bakery) can tell them". Shaenon K. Garrity is a webcomic creator and science-fiction author best known for her webcomics ''Narbonic'' and '' Skin Horse''. She collaborated with various artists to write webcomics for the Modern Tales-family of webcomic subscription services in the early 2000s, and write columns for various comics journals. Since 2003, Garrity has done freelance editing for Viz Media on various manga translations. Early life Garrity was born in Pittsburgh in 1978. She enjoyed drawing and writing at a young age, and she began drawing comics in high school. As a youth correspondent, Garrity drew a comic strip for the kids' section of the ''Cleveland Plain Dealer''. The Japan Media Arts Festival is an annual festival held since 1997 by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs. The festival begins with an open competition and culminates with the awarding of several prizes and an exhibition. Based on judging by a jury of artistic peers, awards are given in four categories: Art (formerly called Non-Interactive Digital Art), Entertainment (formerly called Interactive Art; including video games and websites), animation, and manga. Within each category, one Grand Prize, four Excellence Prizes, and (since 2002) one Encouragement Prize are awarded. Other outstanding works, are selected by the Jury as Jury Selections. Fumi Yoshinaga
is a Japanese manga artist known for her shōjo and boys' love works. Life Fumi Yoshinaga was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1971. She discovered amateur manga, doujinshi, in junior high school, when a friend showed her a doujinshi depicting a romantic relationship between two male characters of '' Captain Tsubasa''. While still in school, she hid from others that she was an otaku in order to avoid bullying. She attended the prestigious Keio University in Tokyo. While at university, she joined a manga club in order to be able to talk to others about manga. When she read the popular manga series ''Slam Dunk'', she was inspired to create a gay love story based on the characters of Kogure and Mitsui.
