''All-Star Baseball'' is a series of baseball video games that was developed and published by Acclaim Entertainment. The series began in 1997 with the release of '' All-Star Baseball '97 Featuring Frank Thomas'', the successor to ''Frank Thomas Big Hurt Baseball''. New York Yankees play-by-play announcers John Sterling and Michael Kay were the announcers for 1998-2000 editions of the game. The final game in the series is ''All-Star Baseball 2005''. Another game in the series was cancelled, while Acclaim Entertainment ceased operations on September 1, 2004. Within the individual games, there are several different modes of play, such as exhibition, managing an existing Major League Baseball team or creating a team. ''All-Star Baseball 2005'' is a baseball video game developed by Acclaim Studios Austin and published by Acclaim Entertainment for PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2004. It was released exclusively in North America. The game features Derek Jeter on the cover. It is the eighth and last game in the series. Gameplay The game includes several features that most previous versions did not include, such as old players like Babe Ruth, Yogi Berra and others. Apart from each of the Major League Baseball (MLB) teams, the game also features teams made up with legends of different eras. John Sterling (born July 4, 1938) is an American sportscaster, best known as the radio play-by-play announcer of Major League Baseball's New York Yankees. Sterling called 5,060 consecutive Yankees games, beginning in 1989, before taking a four-game break in July 2019. Early life Sterling grew up on Manhattan's Upper East Side, in the East 80s. He was the son of advertising executive Carl H.T. Sloss.
