Alkaline Trio Discography
The discography of Alkaline Trio, a Chicago-based punk rock band, consists of nine studio albums, three compilation albums, one split album, four extended play, EPs, one film, video album, sixteen Single (music), singles, one demo (music), demo, nine music download, digital releases, and thirteen music videos. Alkaline Trio formed in 1996 with an initial lineup of Matt Skiba (guitar, lead vocals), Rob Doran (bass), and Glenn Porter (drums). This lineup released the band's demo tape and the 1997 single "Sundials (song), Sundials" on Chicago record label Johann's Face Records, after which Doran left the band and was replaced by Dan Andriano. The group then signed to Asian Man Records and released their debut EP ''For Your Lungs Only'' and album ''Goddamnit'' in 1998. Alkaline Trio
Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Since 2001, the band has consisted of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass) and Derek Grant (drums, vocals). Founded in late 1996 by Skiba, bassist Rob Doran, and drummer Glenn Porter, Alkaline Trio released its debut single, "Sundials", in 1997. Following its release, Doran departed from the band and was replaced by Andriano. The band subsequently recorded an EP, ''For Your Lungs Only'' (1998), and its debut studio album, ''Goddamnit'' (1998). Following the release of the band's second album, '' Maybe I'll Catch Fire'' (2000), Porter left the band and was replaced by Mike Felumlee for its subsequent album, ''From Here to Infirmary'' (2001). Johann's Face Records (a.k.a. JFR) is a Chicago-based record label which was started by Marc Ruvolo and Gar Brandt in 1989. Ruvolo had been working at Roadkill Records and was looking to start a label with his friend, Brandt. The ''Billboard'' 200 is a record chart ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. It is published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine and is frequently used to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. Often, a recording act will be remembered by its " number ones", those of their albums that outperformed all others during at least one week. The chart grew from a weekly top 10 list in 1956 to become a top 200 list in May 1967, and acquired its current name in March 1992. The ''Billboard'' charts tabulate the relative weekly popularity of songs and albums in the United States and elsewhere. The results are published in '' Billboard'' magazine. ''Billboard'' biz, the online extension of the ''Billboard'' charts, provides additional weekly charts, as well as year-end charts. The two most important charts are the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 for songs and ''Billboard'' 200 for albums, and other charts may be dedicated to a specific genre such as R&B, country, or rock, or they may cover all genres. ''From Here to Infirmary'' is the third album by American rock band Alkaline Trio. It was their first album for Vagrant and their only album with Mike Felumlee, who replaced their previous drummer, Glenn Porter. When Felumlee left the band shortly after the album's release, Atom Willard filled in on tour and appeared in the music video for "Private Eye", before Derek Grant (drummer), Derek Grant became their new permanent drummer. Background and production Alkaline Trio released their second studio album ''Maybe I'll Catch Fire'' in March 2000, through record label Asian Man Records. Few months prior to its release, drummer Glenn Porter left the band, and was replaced by former Smoking Popes member Mike Felumlee. Vagrant Records is an American record label based in California. It was founded in 1995 by Rich Egan and Jon Cohen. The label focuses on rock, but features artists in a variety of other genres including folk, soul, electronic, and pop. Mike Felumlee
Mike Felumlee, a native of Crystal Lake, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago), is chiefly known as the current drummer for the rock band The Smoking Popes. He is known to a lesser extent for his stint of several years as drummer in the band Alkaline Trio and for his solo music. The Smoking Popes Felumlee was the drummer on all of the Popes albums prior to the live album ''At Metro'', released in 2006 in conjunction with a long-awaited reunion of the band. Reportedly, Felumlee discussed with Popes frontman Josh Caterer rejoining the band for its reunion but declined, due to personal relations between himself and the Popes having become a little tense. He rejoined The Smoking Popes in April 2015, replacing Neil Hennessy who was relocating. Elsewhere After the Smoking Popes split in 1999, Felumlee joined Alkaline Trio. It includes all of the tracks from their EPs ''For Your Lungs Only'' (1998) and ''I Lied My Face Off'' (1999), as well as both tracks from the "Sundials" single (1997) and several tracks from other compilations. Reception By August 2008, the album sold 85,000 copies. Ari Wiznitzer of Allmusic praised the compilation, comparing the songs' lyrics to those of Blake Schwarzenbach and saying that "What separates this record from most compilations of its kind is both consistency and excellent sequencing. This is the band's best batch of songs since ''Goddamnit'', and although taken from disparate sources, the record has the feel of a long-player." ''Maybe I'll Catch Fire'' is the second album by American punk rock band Alkaline Trio, released on March 14, 2000 through Asian Man Records. It was their final studio album for Asian Man and their last with drummer Glenn Porter. Porter was replaced by former Smoking Popes member Mike Felumlee after recording had finished, making his stage debut in December 1999. The band promoted the album with an appearance on the 2000 Plea for Peace Tour in June and July of that year. Reception By August 2008, the album sold 85,000 copies. Mike DaRonco of Allmusic liked the album, but less than the band's previous effort, 1998's ''Goddamnit'', saying that "Lyrically, ''Maybe I'll Catch Fire'' follows in the footsteps of ''Goddamnit'', while staying true to the elaborate but emotional tone of aggressive pop-punk. Artwork and title The album cover has 3 red alarm clocks, each set at 6:00, representing 666. "I used to set my alarm clock when I was a bike messenger to 6 o'clock in the morning, and when the alarm clock would go off, the first word out of my mouth was always 'Goddamnit!'", says Matt Skiba.
