Alison Munt
Alison Munt (born 21 October 1965) is an Australian professional golfer. She played on the Ladies European Tour as well as on the ALPG Tour in her home country. Munt won three times on the Ladies European Tour between 2000 and 2003, the last time aged 37, after beating Elisabeth Esterl in a playoff in Portugal. She finished third at the 2000 TSN Ladies World Cup Golf in partnership with Jane Crafter. Ladies European Tour
The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors. The tour is run by a Board of Directors and a Players' Council. Most of the players on the tour are European, with members from more than 40 countries internationally. The tour operates tournaments across five continents. History The U.S.-based LPGA was founded in 1950, but women's professional golf was slower to get established in Europe. The Tasman Cup was an amateur women's team golf tournament, played between Australia and New Zealand from 1933 to 2016. From 2007 to 2012 it was played as part of the Trans Tasman Cup. In 2016 the trophy was contested using scores from the two qualifying rounds of the Australian Women's Amateur. History The first contest was held at Victoria Golf Club in Melbourne in 1933. It was played on 1 September, after the qualifying rounds of the Australian Women's Amateur but before the start of the match-play stage. Four singles were played in the morning and two foursomes in the afternoon. Australia won 3 of the 4 singles matches but after lunch three of the five Australian players were unable to play in the foursomes because of illness, and they had to concede the second foursomes match. Commonwealth Trophy
The Astor Trophy is a women's team golf tournament between teams of amateurs golfers from Great Britain and Ireland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. It has been played every four years since 1959. From its foundation until 2007 it was called the Commonwealth Trophy. South Africa did not compete from 1963 to 1991. While it was called the Commonwealth Trophy, Irish golfers were not eligible. The trophy was presented by Nancy Astor, Viscountess Astor. Format Each team plays the other four teams. Patricia Mary "Trish" Johnson (born 17 January 1966) is an English professional golfer. Early life and amateur career Johnson was born in Bristol. Her three brothers were all golfers, one of them was a professional golfer. She practiced other sports, like badminton, soccer and tennis. She preferred to not take golf lessons and learn by herself. She was South Western Champion in 1983 and 1984. In 1984 she was both England Under-23 and Under-21 Champion. In 1985 she won the English Women's Amateur Championship, was the English Women's Strokeplay Champion and repeated as England Under-23 Champion. The WPGA Tour of Australasia, formerly known as the ALPG Tour, is a professional golf tour for women which is based in Australia. WPGA stands for Women's Professional Golfers' Association. The tour was founded as the Ladies Professional Golf Association of Australia (LPGAA) in 1972 by Alan Gillott, who also later on founded ''The Golfer'' newspaper, a free publication provided to golfers and golf clubs, Australia-wide. The LPGAA switched to ALPG Tour in 1991. The first events featured twelve competitors, and the early years were a struggle. However the long-term trend was of gradual expansion and by 2004 there were over 150 members. The season features about a dozen tournaments, usually played over the Australian summer between November and March.
