Alison Moore (politician)
Alison Moore is a British Labour politician and current Mayor of Barnet Council. Moore served as a member of the London Assembly from March 2020 to May 2021. Political career Moore has been a councillor on Barnet London Borough Council since 1998 for the East Finchley ward. Moore is a former Leader of the Labour Group on Barnet Council. She also stood as the Labour candidate for Finchley and Golders Green in 2010. Moore took over the seat of Tom Copley, who resigned from the Assembly following his appointment as Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development by Sadiq Khan. She was co-opted into the Assembly along with Murad Qureshi. She did not stand for re-election in the 2021 London Assembly election. Murad Qureshi
Murad Qureshi ( bn, মুরাদ কোরেশী; born 27 May 1965) is a British Labour Party (UK), Labour and Co-operative Party politician, and a former Member of the London Assembly. Early life and education Qureshi was born in Greater Manchester, but he was brought up in City of Westminster, Westminster, London, where his parents moved in July 1965. He attended Quintin Kynaston School and graduated from the University of East Anglia with a degree in Development Studies in 1987, before undertaking an Master of Science, MSc in Environmental Economics at University College London, which he completed in 1993. Electoral Calculus is a political forecasting web site which attempts to predict future United Kingdom general election results. It considers national factors but excludes local issues. Main features The site was developed by Martin Baxter, who was a financial analyst specialising in mathematical modelling. The site includes maps, predictions and analysis articles. It has separate sections for elections in Scotland and Northern Ireland. From April 2019, the headline prediction covered the Brexit Party and Change UK – The Independent Group. 2021 London Assembly Election
The 2021 London Assembly election was held on 6 May 2021 to elect the members of the London Assembly, alongside the 2021 London mayoral election. The mayoral and Assembly elections were originally to be held on 7 May 2020, but on 13 March 2020 it was announced the election would be postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the sixth election since the assembly was established in 2000. Due to the previous term being extended to 5 years, those elected will serve only a three-year term until the next election in 2024. Sadiq Khan
Sadiq Aman Khan (; born 8 October 1970) is a British politician serving as Mayor of London since 2016. He was previously Member of Parliament (MP) for Tooting from 2005 until 2016. A member of the Labour Party, Khan is on the party's soft left and has been ideologically characterised as a social democrat. Born in Tooting, South London, to a working-class British Pakistani family, Khan earned a law degree from the University of North London. He subsequently worked as a solicitor specialising in human rights issues and chaired the Liberty advocacy group for three years. London Assembly
The London Assembly is a 25-member elected body, part of the Greater London Authority, that scrutinises the activities of the Mayor of London and has the power, with a two-thirds super-majority, to amend the Mayor's annual budget and to reject the Mayor's draft statutory strategies.
