Alison Comyn
Alison Comyn (born 28 October 1969, Drogheda, County Louth) is an Irish television journalist and broadcaster. She currently presents Sky World News on Sky News, and occasionally presented Sunrise with Stephen Dixon, She was formerly the news anchor of UTV Ireland's weekday news and current affairs programmes ''Ireland Live'' news and ''Ireland Live news at 10'' which aired between January 2015 and January 2017. It won the IFTA for Best News programme for its Brexit coverage in 2016. Journalism career Comyn previously worked on programmes with RTÉ, BBC, Sky News and Channel 4. Prior to working at UTV Ireland, she was a reporter with Independent Newspapers, covering regional, political, crime and current affairs issues, including her column "Comyn Sense". Drogheda
Drogheda ( , ; , meaning "bridge at the ford") is an industrial and port town in County Louth on the east coast of Ireland, north of Dublin. It is located on the Dublin–Belfast corridor on the east coast of Ireland, mostly in County Louth but with the south fringes of the town in County Meath, north of Dublin. Drogheda has a population of approximately 41,000 inhabitants (2016), making it the List of settlements on the island of Ireland by population, eleventh largest settlement by population in all of Ireland, and the largest town in the Republic of Ireland by both population and area. UTV (TV Channel)
UTV (formerly Ulster Television, branded on air as ITV1) is the ITV region covering Northern Ireland, ITV subsidiary and the former on-air name of the free-to-air public broadcast television channel serving the area. It is run by ITV plc and is responsible for the regional news service and other programmes made principally for the area. The modern TV channel, ITV, is directly descended from the network of the same name, consisting of independent regional companies which were once the only commercial TV broadcasters in their area. RTÉ Radio 1 ( ga, RTÉ Raidió 1) is an Irish national radio station owned and operated by RTÉ and is the direct descendant of Dublin radio station 2RN, which began broadcasting on a regular basis on 1 January 1926. The total budget for the station in 2010 was €18.4 million. It is the most-listened-to radio station in Ireland. History The Department of Posts and Telegraphs opened 2RN, the first Irish radio station, on 1 January 1926. ''Liveline'' is an Irish radio interview and phone-in chat show broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 each weekday afternoon between 13.45 and 15.00. Craig Doyle
Craig Doyle (born 17 December 1970, Dublin) is an Irish television and radio presenter. To British viewers he is recognisable as working for the BBC and ITV and more recently BT Sport. Irish viewers also know him as the host of RTÉ One chat show ''Tonight with Craig Doyle'' and RTÉ Two's'' Craig Doyle Live''. Carol Patricia Smillie (born 23 December 1961) is a Scottish television presenter, actress and former model. Smillie became famous as a presenter on British TV during the 1990s and early 2000s. She was best known for assisting Nicky Campbell on the UK version of the game show ''Wheel of Fortune'' between 1989 and 1994. Jill Dando
Jill Wendy Dando (9 November 1961 – 26 April 1999) was an English journalist, television presenter and newsreader. She spent most of her career at the BBC and was the corporation's Personality of the Year in 1997. At the time of her death, her television work included co-presenting the BBC One programme ''Crimewatch'' with Nick Ross. On the morning of 26 April 1999, Dando was shot dead outside her home in Fulham, southwest London, prompting the biggest murder inquiry conducted by the Metropolitan Police and the country's largest criminal investigation since the hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper. A local man, Barry George, was convicted and imprisoned for the murder, but after eight years in prison he was acquitted following an appeal and retrial. ''Holiday'' is a British television programme, which aired mainly on BBC One, and sometimes on BBC Two. It is the longest running travel review series on UK television, showing every year from 1969 until its demise in 2007. Overview The programme began in 1969 as ''Holiday 69'', and until the 1990s the year was included in the title in this way.
