''Alisha Rules the World'' is the debut album by English pop duo Alisha's Attic, released on 4 November 1996. The album received positive reviews, and went platinum in the following year, selling 400,000 copies in the UK (with another 100,000 in Japan). The four singles released from the album all reached the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart. ''Music Week'' is a trade publication for the UK record industry distributed via a website and a monthly print magazine. It is published by Future. History Founded in 1959 as '' Record Retailer'', it relaunched on 18 March 1972 as ''Music Week''. On 17 January 1981, the title again changed, owing to the increasing importance of sell-through videos, to ''Music & Video Week''. The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is a trade association representing the Australian recording industry which was established in the 1970s by six major record companies, EMI, Festival, CBS, RCA, WEA and Universal replacing the Association of Australian Record Manufacturers (AARM) which was formed in 1956. Chucho Merchán
Jesús Alfredo Merchán (born December 24, 1952)), known professionally as Chucho Merchán, is a session jazz and rock bassist and guitarist. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cambridge University in 1980. He has performed with Nucleus, Eurythmics, The Pretenders, Thomas Dolby, George Harrison, Pete Townshend, David Gilmour, Robi Rosa, Bryan Adams, Kirsty MacColl, Jaguares, and Everything but the Girl. His first musical experiences were in South America with his band Malanga and with university bands in California. In 1974 he traveled to England to study music at the Cambridge University. He studied composition, orchestration, direction and orchestral conduction, guitar, piano, percussion, and double bass. In 1980 he received his Bachelor of Arts. Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern form during the mid-1950s in the United States and the United Kingdom. Alisha's Attic were an English pop duo of the 1990s and early 2000s. The two members were sisters Shelly McErlaine (born Poole) and Karen Poole, born in Barking and Chadwell Heath respectively. Their father is Brian Poole of 1960s group Brian Poole and the Tremeloes. History Karen and Shelly released their first single, "Sugar Daddy", as Keren & Chelle icin 1988, but it failed to chart. Their chart career began with the release of their debut single " I Am, I Feel", which quickly became a radio and chart hit in the UK. This was followed in November 1996 by their entirely self-written debut album '' Alisha Rules the World''. The platinum selling album was produced by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics and spawned four top 15 UK hits and substantial success in Europe and Japan.
