Alien Series
''Alien'' is a science-fiction horror and action media franchise centered on the film series which depicts warrant officer Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and her battles with an extraterrestrial lifeform, commonly referred to as "the Alien" or Xenomorph. Produced and distributed by 20th Century Studios, the series began with ''Alien'' (1979), directed by Ridley Scott, and was followed by three sequels: ''Aliens'' (1986), directed by James Cameron; ''Alien 3'' (1992), directed by David Fincher, and ''Alien Resurrection'' (1997), directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Daniel Thomas O'Bannon (September 30, 1946 – December 17, 2009) was an American film screenwriter, film director, director and visual effects supervisor, usually in the science fiction and Horror fiction, horror genres. O'Bannon wrote the screenplay for ''Alien (film), Alien'', adapted from a story he wrote with Ronald Shusett. He also wrote and directed the cult horror comedy ''The Return of the Living Dead''. ''Alien: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'' The iconic, avant-garde score to the film ''Alien'' was composed by Jerry Goldsmith and is considered by some to be one of his best, most visceral scores. Rather than focusing on themes, Goldsmith creates a bleak and dissonant soundscape that fits the film's dark and intense atmosphere, with only a few "romantic" cues. Background The music was performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Lionel Newman. However, the music was not originally used or heard as intended.
