Alidaunia S.r.L. is an Italian airline based in Foggia. It operates scheduled passenger services, air ambulance, air taxi/charter, offshore, aircraft maintenance, flying school and aerial work services. Its main base is Gino Lisa Airport, Foggia. History Alidaunia was established in March 1976 and in 1978 was licensed for film and photographic work. In 1984 it received a license for public transport. With government support in 1985 it started scheduled services from Foggia to the Tremiti Islands. In 1992 and 1993 it operated on the Foggia to Milan (Malpensa) route and from 1993 to 1995 on the Foggia to Parma route using a Mitsubishi MU 300 aircraft on both routes. The airline is owned by Roberto Pucillo (general Manager) (55%), Roberto Manzo Rocco (20%), Paulo Giangrossi (15%), Michele Perricone (5%). The Isole Tremiti, also called "Isole Diomedee" (Diomedes' Islands, from Greek ''Diomèdee'', Διομήδεες) are an archipelago in the Adriatic Sea, north of the Gargano Peninsula. They constitute a ''"comune"'' of Italy's Province of Foggia and form part of the Gargano national park. The archipelago is composed of 5 islands: San Domino, San Nicola, Capraia, Cretaccio and Pianosa. The islands were used for the internment of political prisoners during Benito Mussolini's Fascist regime. But it was also the prison of Julia the Younger, the granddaughter of Augustus and, in 780, the prison of Paul the Deacon at the behest of Charlemagne. The islands are now an important tourist attraction because of the clear waters surrounding them. Up to 100,000 visitors come to the islands in the summer season. Foggia (, , ; nap, label= Foggiano, Fògge ) is a city and former ''comune'' of Apulia, in Southern Italy, capital of the province of Foggia. In 2013, its population was 153,143. Peschici is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Foggia in the Apulia region of southeast Italy. Famous for its seaside resorts, its territory belongs to the Gargano National Park and to the Gargano Mountain Community. Geography Peschici is situated on the north-eastern coast of Gargano promontory, east of San Menaio, from Rodi Garganico, and west of Vieste. The town sits over a karst spur facing the sea, with a height of more than ; the territory features a number of coastal watch towers. Vieste (; nap, label= Viestano, Vìst) is a town, ''comune'' and former Catholic bishopric in the province of Foggia, in the Apulia region of southeast Italy. A marine resort in Gargano, Vieste has received Blue Flags for the purity of its waters from the Foundation for Environmental Education. The area covered by the comune is included in the Gargano National Park. History In medieval times, the port was frequently attacked by pirates, Saracens and other enemies of the Kingdom of Naples.
