Wanisekara Bandaranayake Wasala Mudiyanse Ralahamilage Aluwihare Uda Walauwe Alick Aluwihare (commonly known as Alick Aluwihare; 20 December 1926 – 17 May 2009) was a Sri Lankan politician belonging to the United National Party. He was a Sri Lankan Cabinet Minister. He was a Minister of Post & Telecommunication and Minister of Ports & Shipping in the Premadasa cabinet. He was the Home Affairs and Local Government Minister in the Ranil Wickramasinghe Cabinet in 2001 . He was elected to the Sri Lankan Parliament Eight Times from Matale Electoral District. Alick Kay
Alick Dudley Kay (3 October 1884 – 4 February 1961) was an Australian politician and Domain orator. He is described by the Australian Dictionary of Biography as a "harmless ratbag". Early life and education Kay was born in the Sydney suburb of Petersham, New South Wales and educated at Petersham and Stanmore public schools. Alick became a clerk with New South Wales Government Railways and joined the Australian Army in 1915. Career Kay ran unsuccessfully for the federal seat of South Sydney for the Nationalist Party in 1917. In 1918 he left the Nationalists and started appearing regularly as an anti-Communist speaker at Sydney Domain. He also travelled regularly to Melbourne to orate next to the Yarra. In 1925, he won one of the five seats of North Shore under proportional representation in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as an independent. Alick Rowe
Alick Rowe (1938 – 30 October 2009) was a British writer. Born in Hereford, he spent the first 16 years of his life living in a pub (something he would later write about in his book ''Boy at the Commercial)''. After being educated at Hereford Cathedral School, where he was Head Boy, he matriculated to and graduated from St Catharine's College, Cambridge, returning to Hereford Cathedral school as a drama and English teacher. He began writing radio plays in his spare time, and was eventually hired full-time by the BBC. His productions for them included ''Crisp and Even Brightly'' (a comedic retelling of the story of Good King Wenceslas) and ''Operation Lightning Pegasus'' (which covered the Siege of Troy). Outside radio he wrote several books and television productions, including '' The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie'' in 1978 for STV, ''The Tripods'' for the BBC, and winning a BAFTA in 1993. Alick Lindsay Poole
Alick Lindsay Poole (4 March 1908 – 2 January 2008) was a New Zealand botanist and forester. Academic career Poole started at the New Zealand State Forest Service 1926, then to Auckland University College on a scholarship. After various jobs during the Great Depression, he joined the Botany Division of the DSIR in 1937. He enlisted in 1940, and spent the war at the Scientific Liaison Office in London. After the war he worked for the British zone in Germany gaining valuable experience. In 1947 he was appointed Assistant Director of the Botany Division of DSIR. In 1951 he was appointed Assistant Director of the New Zealand Forest Service and rose to Director-General, retiring in 1971. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand in 1962. In the 1971 New Year Honours, Poole was appointed a Companion of the Order of the British Empire, for services to the development of forestry and the forest industries. Alick Osborne
Alick Osborne ( – 12 March 1856) was an Irish-born Australian politician. He was born at Dirnaseer in County Tyrone to Archie Osborne; He was a ship's surgeon in the Royal Navy and then a pastoralist in the Illawarra. Osborne was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Council as the member for the Electoral district of Counties of Murray and St Vincent, Counties of Murray and St Vincent from 1851 to 1855. His brother, Henry Osborne (Australian politician), Henry, would also serve in the New South Wales Parliament. After resigning his seat in January 1855, he left for Europe. He died at Omagh, Ireland on 12 March 1856 (aged 63). References

Thomas Alexander Ogilvie (7 January 1887 – 18 August 1915) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the University Football Club and Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family Alick Ogilvie was born in Williamstown in 1887, the youngest child of Captain John Ogilvie and Elizabeth Ogilvie, née Henderson. He was the younger brother of Melbourne player Laurie Ogilvie. Alick Nkhata (1922–1978) was a Zambian musician, freedom fighter and broadcaster from the 1950s to the mid-1970s. He was also the director of the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC), and formed the Lusaka Radio Band, later called the Big Gold Six Band. Alick Leonard Maemae (born 10 December 1985) is a football midfielder from the Solomon Islands. He hails from Suraina, North East coast of Malaita. Club career He played soccer at a very early age. His interest in soccer forced him to abandon secondary education back at his home village at Manasu'u. Inspired by the first Solomon Islands professional soccer player, Batram Suri who is his very close relative, Maemae went to Honiara and started playing for Koloale FC. At Honiara, he started to gain popularity. The pacy and skilful, leftsided Maemae has played for NZFC outfit YoungHeart Manawatu, where he was joined by his compatriot Nelson Sale Kilifa. Other former clubs include Richmond Athletic, Koloale FC Honiara and Fawkner-Whittlesea Blues in Australia's Victorian Premier League. Alick Maclean
Alexander "Alick" Morvaren Maclean (20 July 1872 – 18 May 1936) was an English composer and conductor. Maclean's father Charles Maclean was Director of Music at Eton College. The younger Maclean was born there and later went to the school. He became interested in opera and wrote an 'English' verismo work called ''Petruccio''. This was presented in a double-bill with ''Cavalleria rusticana'' at the Royal Opera in London, on 29 June 1895. As an opera composer he enjoyed more success in Germany than in England, and two of his later works were staged in Mainz. The librettist for all his works was Sheridan Ross. From 1912 to 1935 he conducted the Spa Orchestra at Scarborough. He died in London in 1936.
