Erlinda Gaerlan Asturias-Aguilar (June 7, 1927 – May 20, 1992), popularity known as Alicia Vergel, was a Filipino people, Filipina actress noted for her roles as fighting women and amazons and, like Norma Blancaflor, for her heart-shaped face. Early career Vergel's film credits include ''Diwani (film), Diwani'' opposite César Ramírez (actor), César Ramirez, ''MN (film), MN'' with Carmen Rosales as her arch-enemy, ''Balisong (film), Balisong'' with Ramon Revilla and ''Madame X (1952 film), Madame X'' with Gloria Romero (actress), Gloria Romero as her daughter. She participated in the unfinished movie ''Bibingka'y masarap'' under Sampaguita Pictures in the late 40s. Bernardo Carpio is a legendary figure in Philippine mythology who is said to be the cause of earthquakes. There are numerous versions of this tale. Some versions say Bernardo Carpio is a giant, as supported by the enormous footsteps he has reputedly left behind in the mountains of Montalban. Others say he was the size of an ordinary man. Accounts of the stories have pre-colonial origins, but the name of the hero was Hispanized during the Spanish colonization. The original name of the hero has been lost in time.
