Alicia Monson
Alicia Monson (born May 13, 1998) is an American long distance runner who primarily competes in the 5000 metres, 5000 meters and 10,000 metres, 10,000 meters. She is the List of North, Central American and Caribbean records in athletics, North American record holder for the 5000 m and 10,000 m and the North American indoor record holder for the 3000 metres, 3000 meters. Career Monson grew up in Amery, Wisconsin. While competing for the University of Wisconsin, she earned Big Ten titles, All-American titles and a 2019 5000 metres, 5000 m indoor NCAA title. Monson runs for On Athletics Club in Boulder, Colorado. On June 26, 2021, at the 2020 United States Olympic trials (track and field), U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials held in Eugene, Oregon, she came third in the 10,000 metres, 10,000 m race in a time of 31:18.55 to claim the same spot on the American team for the event at the delayed Athletics at the 2020 Summer Olympics, 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Millrose Games
The Millrose Games is an annual indoor athletics meet (track and field) held each February in New York City. They started taking place at the Armory in Washington Heights in 2012, after having taken place in Madison Square Garden from 1914 to 2011. The games were started when employees of the New York City branch of Wanamaker's department store formed the Millrose Track Club to hold a meet. The featured event is the Wanamaker Mile. Molly Huddle
Molly Huddle (born August 31, 1984) is an American long-distance runner who competes in track and cross country running events. Huddle set the American record in the 5000 m at the 2014 Herculis Diamond League meet in Fontvieille, Monaco (14:42.64), which has since been lowered by Shannon Rowbury and Shelby Houlihan. She also set the American record in the 10,000 m at the 2016 Olympics, with a time of 30:13.17. In 2019 at the London Marathon, she lowered her PR to 2:26:33, finishing 12th. Karissa Schweizer
Karissa Schweizer (born May 4, 1996) is an American middle- and long-distance runner, Olympian and World Record holder in the women's 4x1500 meters relay. She competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 5000 meters and 10,000 meters events finishing 11th and 12th, respectively. In 2020, she set the indoor 3000 meters American Record with a time of 8:25.70. Representing the University of Missouri, she won the 2016 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships and holds five other NCAA individual championship titles including being the two-time NCAA Champion in the 5000 meters event. She is the American collegiate record-holder for the indoor 3000 meters run with a time of 8:41.60. World Athletics Cross Country Tour
The World Athletics Cross Country Tour is an annual series of cross country running competitions which are recognised by the World Athletics (formerly known as the IAAF). Athletes accumulate points in the series' cross country meets during the season, which typically begins in September and finishes in March, with top three performances counting towards the standings. The inaugural season was 2021–22. The Tour replaced the IAAF Cross Country Permit Meetings, IAAF Cross Country Permit series, which was first held in 1999. 2022 World Athletics Championships
The 2022 World Athletics Championships was the eighteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships. It was held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from July 15–24, 2022, with the country hosting that competition for the first time. The competition was originally scheduled for August 6–15, 2021, but it was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, World Athletics banned all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating at the championships. In addition, the stringent vaccination requirements for people entering the United States caused visa delays for participants and officials, with some ultimately being unable to enter the country.
