Alice Simpson-Pickering
Alice Pickering (1860 – 18 February 1939; née ''Alice Mabel Simpson'') was an English tennis player. Pickering played at the Wimbledon Championships from 1895 to 1901. In 1896, she won the all-comers-competition at Wimbledon 1896,Arthur Wallis Myers (1903): ''Lawn Tennis at Home and Abroad.'' She again reached the all-comers final in the following year, but this time lost to Blanche Bingley. Wimbledon Championships
The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts, with retractable roofs over the two main courts since 2019. Wimbledon is the only major still played on grass, the traditional tennis playing surface.
