Alice Gainer
Alice Gainer (born July 3, 1982) is an American anchor and reporter for WCBS-TV and WLNY-TV, New York. Prior to WCBS Gainer worked at WNYW Fox 5, New York and for eight years before that, worked as an Anchor/Reporter at News 12 New Jersey. She has also appeared on News 12 Westchester, CNN, Fox News Channel and Fox Business Happy Hour. Gainer graduated from Fordham University in 2004 with a degree in Communications: TV and Radio and a minor in Business Administration. At Fordham she was an anchor for WFUV, the university's NPR affiliated radio station, and won a Gracie Award in the category "Individual Achievement for Best Anchor (Radio)". She was also an anchor for the campus television station. After graduating Gainer worked for NPR affiliate WBGO radio and also for MetroNetworks WOR, WABC, and Air America Satellite Radio. Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. A medley relay consists of four swimmers who will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. Miss America is an annual competition that is open to women from the United States between the ages of 17 and 25. Originating in 1921 as a "bathing beauty revue", the contest is now judged on competitors' talent performances and interviews. As of 2018, there is no longer a swimsuit portion to the contest, or consideration of physical appearance. Miss America travels about 20,000 miles a month, changing her location every 24 to 48 hours, touring the nation and promoting her particular platform of interest. The Miss New Jersey USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the U.S. state, state of New Jersey in the Miss USA pageant. It is produced by D&D Productions. New Jersey has yet to win the Miss USA title, although from 1989 to 1991 they had two 2nd runners-up and one 1st runner-up in a row. Two years later, another Miss New Jersey USA placed in the finals, and in 2008, Tiffany Andrade finished as 2nd runner up, one of three Miss New Jersey USAs to place third at Miss USA.
