Aliagha Vahid Garden
Aliagha Vahid Garden ( az, Əliağa Vahid bağı) is a small square in the historical Icheri Sheher district of Baku located adjacent to the Kichik Gala street. History The name of the garden was anchored to it after the installation of the bust of the classic of Azerbaijani literature, the poet Aliagha Vahid. Initially, in 1990, the bust was installed in the park, formerly known as the Mikhailovsky or Governors Garden, one of the oldest parks in Baku. On the south side, the square of that garden was bordered by Niyazi Street, on the north side - by the Icheri Sheher metro station, on the west - by the Istiglaliyat Street, and on the east - by the fortress wall of the old part of Icheri Sheher Old City or Inner City ( az, İçərişəhər) is the historical core of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Aliagha Vahid
Aliagha Mammadgulu oghlu Isgandarov ( az, Əliağa Məmmədqulu oğlu İsgəndərov; 17 February 1895, in Baku – 1 October 1965, in Baku), was an Azerbaijani poet and Honoured Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR (1943). He was known for reintroducing medieval ghazal style in Soviet Azerbaijani poetry. Life and creativity Aliagha Vahid was born on February 17, 1895 in a family of a carpenter. From his earliest years he worked as an unskilled laborer and helped his father. His received his first education in madrasa, but not finishing it, entered the literary society “Mejmeush-shuara”. There he befriended such poets as Muniri, Azer Imamaliyev and other popular poets of Baku of that epoch. Under their creative influence he wrote his first lyrical poems. In his early satirical poems he criticized social deficiencies in the society, superstition and narrow-mindedness, tyranny and unfairness. Icheri Sheher (Baku Metro)
Icheri Sheher ( az, İçәri Şәhәr, ''Inner City'') is a Baku Metro station on Red Line (Line 1). It was opened on 6 November 1967 as one of the first 5 stations in Baku. Regular traffic started from 25 November 1967. The station was called Baki Soveti until 2007. In April 2007 station was renamed "Icherisheher" according to the resolution of Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic. After renovation From July 2008 renovation of the station was started according to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers. In December 2008 renovation was completed, and the station was opened on 29 December. Pyramid shape has been used for the entrance of station composed of metal and glass. The outer height of the upper vestibule is 14 meters (as the height of Old City fortress). Former escalators (LT type) were substituted with “Viktoriya” in 2009. Istiglaliyyat Street
Istiglaliyyat Street ( az, Istiqlaliyyət küçəsi) is an arterial road in the central uptown part of Baku, Azerbaijan. It begins at Gulustan Palace, located on the southern hillside part of Baku, and continues north, then northeast, terminating at the intersection of Aziz Aliyev and Mammad Amin Rasulzade Streets at the edge of Fountains Square. Overview of the street Istiglaliyyat is one of the oldest streets of Baku.
