Muwashshah
''Muwashshah'' ( ar, موشح ' literally means "girdled" in Classical Arabic; plural ' or ' ) is the name for both an Arabic poetic form and a secular musical genre. The poetic form consists of a multi-lined strophic verse poem written in classical Arabic, usually consisting of five stanzas, alternating with a refrain with a running rhyme. It was customary to open with one or two lines which matched the second part of the poem in rhyme and meter; in North Africa poets ignore the strict rules of Arabic meter while the poets in the East follow them. Lotfi Bouchnak
Lotfi Bouchnak ( aeb, لطفي بوشناق, Bosnian: Lutfi Bošnjak) (born January 18, 1954) is a Tunisian singer, oud player, composer and public figure. He is considered one of the best tenors in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Arab world and has been dubbed as Tunisia's "Pavarotti". He also played in Tunisian TV series and movies including Maktoub, La boîte magique, Halou u mer and El paraíso ya no es lo que era. Biography Bouchnak was born in Tunis, Tunisia to a family of Bosniak origin. At a young age, he began re-performing the songs of Oum Kalthoum and other masters of Egyptian music. Anouar Brahem
Anouar Brahem ( أنور براهم); born on 20 October 1957) is a Tunisian oud player and composer. He is widely acclaimed as an innovator in his field. Performing primarily for a jazz audience, he combines Arabic classical music, folk music and jazz and has been recording since at least 1991, after becoming prominent in his own country in the late 1980s. Biography Brahem was born and raised in the Halfaouine neighbourhood in the Medina of Tunis, Tunisia. He studied oud at Tunisia's National Conservatory of Music and after that with oud master Ali Sriti. In 1981, he left for Paris in search of new vistas. This enabled him to meet musicians from a variety of genres. He remained there for four years, notably composing music for Tunisian cinema and theatre. Salah El Mahdi
Salah El Mahdi ( aeb, صالح المهدي; born Mohamed Ibn Abderrahmane Ben Salah Mehdi Chérifi on February 9, 1925 in Tunis and died September 12, 2014 in Tunis) was a Tunisian musicologist, conductor, composer, flautist, music critic and judge. Biography Born in Tunis in 1925, he graduated from Zaytuna University in 1941 and then at the law school and National School of Administration. He obtained a Ph.D. in musicology in 1981 and a doctorate in letters at the University of Poitiers. At the age of 18 he left the capital of Tunis to La Marsa and gave music lessons to students. In 1949, he became director of the institution and ensemble there and was appointed honorary member of the SACEM. He was appointed as a judge on November 11, 1951, while assuming the job of music critic in several newspapers. Ibrahim Salah (footballer, Born 1987)
Ibrahim Salah Abdel Fattah ( ar, إبراهيم صلاح عبدالفتاح; born on April 1, 1987) is an Egyptian footballer who plays as a midfielder. Career Salah left Zamalek SC on 1 July 2013, having played for the club in five years. He plays usually as a defensive midfielder, although he may be converted into a winger when needed. In February 2014, Salah was linked to a move to Sheffield United but rejoined Zamalek in April 2014, ending a one-year spell at the Saudi club Al-Orobah. Salah scored his first international goal in the friendly against Uganda 3–0 victory on 14 August 2013. In 2016 he joined Smouha SC on loan scoring 20 goals in 17 appearances.
