Ali Kalora
Ali Ahmad, known popularly as Ali Kalora (30 May 1981 – 18 September 2021), was an Indonesian Islamic militant and leader of East Indonesia Mujahideen. He was referred to as Indonesia's most wanted militant leader and was the main target of both Indonesian military and police during Operation Tinombala. He became leader of the militant organization after Abu Wardah was shot and killed in July 2016. He waged an insurgency and committed several attacks against villages around Poso Regency and Parigi Moutong Regency until 18 September 2021, where he was shot and killed by the Operation Madago Raya, Madago Raya Operation task force. Early life Ali Ahmad was born on 30 May 1981 in Kalora village, Poso Regency. As he grew up, he identified himself more with his village and gave himself the nickname Ali Kalora. Poso Regency
Poso Regency is a Regencies of Indonesia, regency of Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. Parigi Moutong Regency is a regency of Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It covers an area of 6,231.85 km2 and had a population of 413,588 at the 2010 Census and 440,015 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 443,170. East Indonesia Mujahideen
The East Indonesia Mujahideen ( id, Mujahidin Indonesia Timur; Abbreviation, abbreviated MIT) is a terrorist group operating out of Poso, Sulawesi in Indonesia. The group was led by Abu Wardah (also known as Santoso) until he was killed by Indonesian police on 18 July 2016. After the death of Santoso, the group was led by Ali Kalora until he was killed on 18 September 2021. The group has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. MIT was proscribed by the United Nations Security Council under the Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee on 29 September 2015. The US Department of State has designated MIT as a terrorist organisation. Santoso (21 August 1976 – 18 July 2016), known as Abu Wardah ( ar, الشيخ أبو وردة), was an Indonesian Islamic militant and the leader of East Indonesia Mujahideen (MIT). He pledged allegiance to Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, ISIL in July 2014. He was killed on 18 July 2016 by the Indonesian Army after two years of hiding in the jungles near Poso, Sulawesi. Operation Madago Raya ( id, Operasi Madago Raya), previously known as Operation Tinombala, is a joint police–military operation conducted by the Indonesian National Police and the Indonesian Armed Forces to capture and/or eliminate members of Mujahidin Indonesia Timur (MIT), an Indonesian terrorist group which supports ISIL and was commanded by Santoso. In 2016, the Indonesian military and police succeeded in killing Santoso, but the then Chief of the National Police Tito Karnavian continued the operation to ensure the region's safety from the remaining members of the group. Central Sulawesi governor Longki Djanggola praised the operation for its relatively humane methods, since several leaders of the group were successfully captured alive. Mobile Brigade Corps
The Mobile Brigade Corps ( id, Korps Brigade Mobil) abbreviated Brimob is the special operations, paramilitary, and tactical unit of the Indonesian National Police (Polri). It is one of the oldest existing units within Polri.
