Algy Gehrs
Donald Raeburn Algernon Gehrs (29 November 1880 – 25 June 1953) was an Australian sportsman who played six Test matches for Australia from 1904 to 1911 and played Australian rules football for South Adelaide and North Adelaide Football Clubs. Described as "Tall, thickset and athletic", Gehrs played 13 games of football for South Adelaide in 1902 and seven games for North Adelaide in 1908. An aggressive opening batsman who liked to take on the fast bowlers, Gehrs played Sheffield Shield cricket for South Australia from 1902–03 to 1920–21. In a first-class match against Western Australia in February 1906, he carried his bat for 148 not out in the first innings (of a team total of 235) and made 100 not out in the second innings. His highest score was 170, when South Australia defeated Victoria by an innings at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 1904–05. Algy Paterson
Algy Paterson (died 6 August 1995) was the last fluent speaker of the Martuthunira language of Western Australia. Algy's father was a Europe, European, which made him eligible to be removed from his family by the authorities under the policy now known as the Stolen Generation. His family avoided this by hiding in the bush, where they lived a traditional nomadic lifestyle. Algy grew up speaking Martuthunira and Kurrama language, Kurrama, and did not learn any English language, English until he was fifteen. From 1980 he worked with the Linguistics, linguist Alan Dench to preserve the Martuthunira language in writing. Alasdair Mackie "Algy" Ward (born 11 July 1959) is an English heavy metal bass guitarist and singer. He founded Tank, a part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement. He also played with the Damned and before that the Saints. Career with The Saints Alasdair Mackie Ward first rose to fame by joining the Australian punk rock band the Saints, replacing their former bassist Kym Bradshaw. Ward's first appearance with the band was in 1977 on their third single, " This Perfect Day." He also played on their second album '' Eternally Yours'' and third album ''Prehistoric Sounds'', both released in 1978, when the band began to experiment with a jazzier R&B sound. A little after the release of ''Prehistoric Sounds'', The Saints temporarily disbanded, and when the band got back together with their more post-punk driven sound, Ward was replaced by Janine Hall. Walter Brown (pejoratively nicknamed "Walter the Softy") is a fictional character that appears in the British comic magazine ''The Beano''. He is the rival and antagonist to Dennis the Menace who is vilified because of his lack of interest in stereotypically masculine activities and attitudes. From his first appearance in 1953, Walter became the target of Dennis' pranks and misbehaviour but would brush it off. ''Dennis the Menace and Gnasher'' (originally titled ''Dennis the Menace'' and currently titled ''Dennis and Gnasher)'' is a long-running comic strip in the British children's comic ''The Beano'', published by DC Thomson, of Dundee, Scotland. The comic stars a boy named Dennis the Menace and his Abyssinian wire-haired tripe hound Gnasher. The strip first appeared in issue 452, dated 17 March 1951, and on sale from 12 March 1951. It is the longest-running strip in the comic. The idea and name of the character emerged when the comic's editor heard a British music hall song with the chorus "I'm Dennis the Menace from Venice". The creation of Dennis in the 1950s had sales of ''The Beano'' soar. James Bigglesworth, nicknamed "Biggles", is a fictional pilot and adventurer, the title character and hero of the ''Biggles'' series of adventure books, written for young readers by W. E. Johns (1893–1968).
