Algemesí
Algemesí () is a Municipalities of Spain, municipality in the Comarques of the Valencian Community, ''comarca'' of Ribera Alta (comarca), Ribera Alta in the Valencia (autonomous community), Valencian Community, Spain. The town of Algemesí is one of the major centres for the production of citruses in Spain, and several cooperatives are based there. This is due to the mild climate and good irrigation coming from the Júcar, Xuquer river, which passes through the city. Every September is celebrated the Festivity of “la Mare de Déu de la Salut”, declared as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2011. The traditional Valencian dance called Muixeranga is originally a part of the festivity. La Mare De Déu De La Salut Festival
The Festivity of La Mare de Déu de la Salut is a festival celebrated in Algemesí (Province of Valencia, Valencia), Spain, from August 29 to September 8. The festival is in honour of the patron saint of Algemesí, La Mare de Déu de la Salut, and has been dated back to 1247. The holiday was awarded the UNESCO "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" designation on November 28, 2011. Muixeranga
The ''Muixeranga'' () is the collective name given to the performance of ancient street dances and human pyramids or ''castells'', originating in the ancient Kingdom of Valencia (currently the Land of Valencia), which are still preserved in the town of Algemesí, southwest from Valencia, and certain other Valencian towns. The ''muixeranga'' is much more than an artistic acrobatic dance. It is a collection of ancient human choreographies of enormous plasticity illustrating various figures and shapes, which are held during the Algemesí town festival (September 7 and 8th), in honor of the Virgin of Health (''Mare de Déu de la Salut''). The ''Muixeranga'' resembles the modern ''castellers'' in many ways, the latter being spread all over Catalonia. The Societat Musical d'Algemesí (; "The Musical Society of Algemesí") is one of the cultural associations in the city of Algemesí, Valencian Community, Spain. Ribera Alta (comarca)
Ribera Alta is a ''comarca'' in the province of Valencia, Valencian Community, Spain. Origin The Júcar, the great river of the Valencian community, is most characteristic of the Ribera Alta, bringing water from the Cuenca to fertilize this plain, situated to the south of the Valencia. The economy of this predominantly agricultural region is based primarily upon the orange harvest, a crop which has been cultivated since the 18th century. Riom
Riom (; Auvergnat ''Riam'') is a commune in the Puy-de-Dôme department in Auvergne in central France. It is a sub-prefecture of the department. History Until the French Revolution, Riom was the capital of the province of Auvergne, and the seat of the dukes of Auvergne. The city was of Gaulish origin, the Roman ''Ricomagus''. In the intensely feudalized Auvergne of the 10th century, the town grew up around the collegiate Church of Saint Amabilis (Saint Amable), the local saint, who was the object of pilgrimages. Comarques Of The Valencian Community
The ''comarques'' of the Valencian Community, form an intermediate level of administrative subdivision between municipalities and provinces. They are used as a basis for the provision of local services by the Generalitat Valenciana, but do not have any representative or executive bodies of their own. In 1987, the Generalitat Valenciana published an official proposal for Homologated Territorial Demarcations, ''Demarcacions Territorials Homologades'' (DTH), of three degrees, where the first degree largely coincides with the territorial concept of ''comarca''. A sister city or a twin town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties.
