The Alfréd Rényi Prize is awarded biennially by the Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics of the Hungarian Academy of Science The Hungarian Academy of Sciences ( hu, Magyar Tudományos Akadémia, MTA) is the most important and prestigious learned society of Hungary. By the current rules it is given to one or two fellows of the Institute in recognition of their outstanding performance in mathematics research of the previous five-year period. Alfréd Rényi Institute Of Mathematics
The Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics ( hu, Rényi Alfréd Matematikai Kutatóintézet) is the research institute in mathematics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. It was created in 1950 by Alfréd Rényi, who directed it until his death. Since its creation, the institute has been the center of mathematical research in Hungary. It received the title ''Centre of Excellence of the European Union'' (2001). The current director is András Stipsicz. The institute publishes the research journal Studia Scientiarum Mathematicarum Hungarica. László Pyber
''László Pyber'' (born 8 May 1960 in Budapest) is a Hungarian mathematician. He is a researcher at the Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics, Budapest. He works in combinatorics and group theory. Biography Pyber received his Ph.D. from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1989 under the direction of László Lovász and Gyula O.H. Katona with the thesis ''Extremal Structures and Covering Problems.'' In 2007, he was awarded the Academics Prize by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. In 2017, he was the recipient of an ERC Advanced Grant. Mathematical contributions Pyber has solved a number of conjectures in graph theory. In 1985, he proved the conjecture of Paul Erdős and Tibor Gallai that edges of a simple graph with ''n'' vertices can be covered with at most ''n-1'' circuits and edges. János Pach (born May 3, 1954) is a mathematician and computer scientist working in the fields of combinatorics and discrete and computational geometry. Biography Pach was born and grew up in Hungary. He comes from a noted academic family: his father, (1919–2001) was a well-known historian, and his mother Klára (née Sós, 1925–2020) was a university mathematics teacher; his maternal aunt Vera T. Sós and her husband Pál Turán are two of the best-known Hungarian mathematicians.
