Alfredson's Joinery
Alfredson's Joinery is a heritage-listed workshop at 28 King Street, Cooran, Shire of Noosa, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1930s to 1950s. It is also known as Alfredson's Pre-Cut House Workshop and Alfredson's Sawmill. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 27 November 2008. History The former Alfredson's joinery, pre-cut house workshop and sawmill complex at 28 King Street Cooran is evidence of the long history of timber-based industry in the Noosa Shire and North Coast region. The business was also involved in efforts to address the post-World War II housing shortage. The multi-level timber building, built on a sloping site with a combination of gabled, saw tooth and skillion rooflines, provides intact evidence of a timber-based family business premises that was operated, expanded and adapted between 1933 and 1990. Cooran, Queensland
Cooran is a rural hinterland town and locality in the Shire of Noosa, Queensland, Australia. In the the locality of Cooran had a population of 1,624 people. Geography Cooran is predominantly farming land with its urban centre in the north of the locality. Pinbarren Creek and Six Mile Creek flow from east to west through the northern part of the locality, while Coles Creek flows from east to west through the southern part of the locality. All the creeks flow into the Mary River. The Bruce Highway passes through the south-west corner of the locality but does not pass through the town. Cooran Railway Station
Cooran railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the town of Cooran in the Shire of Noosa. History Cooran railway station opened on 10 June 1889 with the opening of the line from Gympie. It was the terminus of the line until it was extended south to Cooroy on 1 April 1891. The station today consists of one platform with a steel shelter. In 2009, the platform was extended at its southern end with scaffolding and plywood materials. Initially intended as an interim arrangement until a permanent extension was built, the temporary platform remained until December 2018. Opposite the platform lies a passing loop. Queensland Rail has commenced the reconstruction of the station platform and shelter, with work on the new, permanent structure that was completed by the end of December 2018. Ekka
The Ekka is the annual agricultural show of Queensland, Australia. Its formal title is the Royal Queensland Show, and it is held at the Brisbane Showgrounds. It was originally called the Brisbane Exhibition, but it is more commonly known as the "Ekka", short for "exhibition".
