Alfredo Rodrigues Gaspar
Alfredo Rodrigues Gaspar (8 December 1865 in Funchal – 1 December 1938 in Lisbon) was a Portuguese military officer and politician. Rodrigues Gaspar was President of the Ministry (Prime Minister) of one of the many governments of the Portuguese First Republic. Biography He was born on 8 August 1865 in the Penha de França neighbourhood, in what is today's ''freguesia'' of Sé, in Funchal, to Manuel Rodrigues Gaspar, a carpenter and Maria Augusta. He was President of the Council of Ministers ( Prime-Minister) in one of the First Portuguese Republic's many governments, between 6 July 1924 and 22 November 1924. He was also Minister of Agriculture between 6 and 22 July 1924. The political instability of the First Republic would make him take the positions of Minister of Education, Minister of the Colonies and last President of the Chamber of Deputies. Captain (naval)
Captain is the name most often given in English-speaking navies to the rank corresponding to command of the largest ships. The rank is equal to the army rank of colonel and air force rank of group captain. Equivalent ranks worldwide include ship-of-the-line captain (e.g. France, Argentina, Spain), captain of sea and war (e.g. Brazil, Portugal), captain at sea (e.g. Germany, Netherlands) and " captain of the first rank" (Russia). The NATO rank code is OF-5, although the United States of America uses the code O-6 for the equivalent rank (as it does for all OF-5 ranks). Four of the uniformed services of the United States — the United States Navy, United States Coast Guard, United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Officer Corps — use the rank. In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Worldwide, there is a wide variance in local laws and customs regarding the powers and responsibilities of a mayor as well as the means by which a mayor is elected or otherwise mandated.
